    Serial numbers and maintenance history may help If you advance the throttle in neutral will they start consistently ? If they do could be IAC valve. Other items is crab distributor cap plugs etc Battery voltage is a issue for these engines so wasn’t a bad thing to rule out

    Did you grease the oring ? Or is it rolled. I forgot to grease the prongs on my driveshaft and had a hell of a Time getting drive on… a little grease and good to go

    When I did my swap I used the parts diagrams from my old engine to new lease a list of intake cooling hoses etc by part number from old engine to new (4.3 to 5.0 swap) There are good diagrams at marine engine.com And i think mercruiser parts . Com Best bet for knowing what you are getting...

    Starter?

    It’s just a fuse so once it pops it’s done and needs to be replaced. there are no automatically resetting breakers. The 50 amp on the engine will need to be manually reset. If it’s coming off and on intermittently you have a loose or dirty connection

    If you repower consider putting in a 4.3 if you like the boat and want to keep it The 3.7 was a bit of red headed step child for mercruiser if you go through the work get a newer better design 4.3

    It lines up with the intake runner water cross over is below the thermostat housing it up pull that plug it will be dry won’t run with that much of a vacuum leak
