    4.3LX & Weber Carb Service

Why do you say that ? The AFB/weber/ edlebrock carbs are generally regarded as easy to tune. I have certainly found that on both my boat and 65 GTO

    Mercruiser 3.0 prop suggestions.

No that is fine, more or less equivalent to a Black Max from Merc. Everybody used to use rubber hubs for decades until swapping over to the insert style hard plastic (delrin). You are fine with what you have. If your engine is in good shape drop to a 13 and you are done.

    Mercruiser 3.0 prop suggestions.

yes down in pitch dont sweat the diameter if staying with same type of prop. make sure engine is in good shape as suggested. Probably a 13" will get you into 4500-4600 range which will put less strain on the engine. Are you currently running a basic aluminum Black Max type ?

MerCruiser 3.0 Runs Poorly As It Warms Up

Sounds like you know how to rebuild a carb, then. Only mentioned it because a lot of times on here you get a newbie who doesn't know how to clean a carb, buys a cheap kit of amazon and wonders why it still doesn't work... I also play around with old stuff too ultrasonic was a game changer for...

MerCruiser 3.0 Runs Poorly As It Warms Up

Use a spark gap tester to see if you are loosing spark from when it first runs to when it runs poorly. Is choke fully opening ? You say you regasketed the carb - did you clean it out in an ultra sonic cleaner ? When it runs like crap open the fuel tank fill cap- wonder if the tank vent is...

    Gimbal bearing install fail?

Yes the grease is not getting into the bearing. Not sure if you can pull it without damaging the bearing. Would always prefer a good quality greaseable bearing vs the non greaseable. I just replaced the non greaseable u joints on my gen 2, one o two of the crosses on each bearing the grease was...

Re-re installing alpha one, what can I re-use?

No need to replace them. Very common the gasket gets pushed out. Makes sure the area is clean of scale and old gasket. Just snug the down tight with a calibrated elbow. Have never used a torque wrench on this .

1996 Four Winns Sundowner with 5.0 Cobra engine and drive

Re gear lube - I believe VP lube is clearish brown. Likely someone put merc hi perf lube in there. I do recall someone saying they had cone clutch slipping issues with Merc lube in VP drives but not sure how accurate that is

    Bravo one Transom Assembly hole

As above that will work but if it corroded through there you likely have other areas or areas on the gimbal ring that are weak, would makes sure those are ok and steering pin in good order. If any of that break under way you could be in trouble. Usually you can find used fresh water transom...

    1971 3.0 Liter Carb Question..

SO you didn't set the points when putting them in? Ste timing and dwell then adjust the carb mix and idle speed. I usually set the idle speed about 700-725 on the trailer, do final mixture and speed settings on the water in gear 650 or so. 1.5 turns out is a good starting point for the idle mix...

    3.0 liter carb problem

Likely needle and seat or float is not working bowl is overflowing Or on hollers the float bowl gaskets dry out and leak. Go through rebuilding it with a good quality kit and you will be fine

    4.3LX & Weber Carb Service

I believe this is mounted in the exhaust cross over so would not affect vacuum (intake) side of manifold. There could be an exhaust leak depending on how it is set up. On older cars that had an integral choke with heat tubes coming up from the crossover there was a air tube inside the cross...

    Outdrive Paint & Prep

Are they able to mix up paint and fill rattle cans ? If so that is great I think you will find finishes from and automotive paint supplier will be more durable than the typical off the shelf rattle can. 2 k systems are much more durable. I painted my 1965 Pontiac about 30 years ago, car was...

    4.3LX & Weber Carb Service

The spacer was probably creating a vacuum leak. Why are you hung up on using it? If its working I wouldn’t bother converting the choke and spending money on the sniper, too many mixed reviews
