Opinions on 2000 Wellcraft 3000 Martinique

Good advice above! I owned Wellcrafts for 20+ years, good boats but condition is everything. One of my slip neighbors had a 3000 Martinique, very good layout. A pre-purchase survey from an accredited marine surveyor can save a whole lot of potential issues. I HIGHLY recommend you get one for a...

    Marina Slip Safe?

If tied correctly, the boat will not need any fenders hung. Just tie it up and adjust the lines to allow for the full tide swing. I’ve had my boat in the same marina for 19 years without any issues, and this slip is at the open end of the marina adjacent to the ramp (very exposed to the weather).

Baltimore bridge hit by ship, collapsed

When that bridge was built in the ‘70’s, it was designed to protect against damage from the (smaller) container ships of the time. The supports SHOULD have been modified or upgraded with barriers strong enough to survive a hit from todays massive ships.

Baltimore bridge hit by ship, collapsed

Yes, and the Coast Guard station at Curtis Bay is now essentially cut off from the Chesapeake- except for their smaller craft. Wonder how many Cutters are stranded there?

Baltimore bridge hit by ship, collapsed

Simply unbelievable! I’ve travelled under (and over) the Key bridge so many times. It‘s always seemed stout to me, but apparently the weak point was the towers. God bless the missing souls…..

Thinking about building a boat this fall

First, JimS123- that’s a great looking home built!👍 As for the new build, a cabin- no matter how small- will definitely make a small Jon boat harder to handle, both going down the road and on the water. Maybe a simple bimini top would suffice for your needs. As for size, I’d recommend at least...

    Exhilarator boats

Never heard of ‘em, but they look a lot like the 10’ GW Invader from the 1960’s. Here’s a video of these new mini boats:

Towing Boston Whaler 130 with Honda CRV

I assume the CRV has AWD? Just take it easy and think ahead, either vehicle will do the job. Towing longer distances- fine if your not in hill country. Just do as above.

Anyone tried one of these boats?

Well, drift boats are a real thing and quite different than a Jon boat. They are popular in the PNW for fly fishing the rivers out there. Here’s an image of a wooden drift boat. Never tried one, but the rocker bottom is intentional for (I think) scooting over rapids and fast water. I just asked...

    Searching Bow Rail-Four Winns 320

Welcome to iboats, sorry to hear about the rail. I‘d start by asking the manufacturer if they are available. Here‘s a site I found: https://parts.fwdealer.com/ If that doesn’t work, maybe search for a boat graveyard? Good luck!

Considering 1992 Bayliner 3058 Command Bridge - what to look out for?

Agree with the above. When I was big boat shopping (20 years ago) I found a nice one but my surveyor discovered some serious problems that would’ve cost a fortune to fix. Not happy, but it was money well spent. Most competent surveys are two part- dry and wet, so it will require a haul out. It...

    1997 Lowe 165 (l165 eu?)

LOL, as a kid I earned Seaman 1st Class at Admiral Farragut Academy, does that count? I‘m impressed with your work in the USCGA, nice going! The trolling motor- in my case I needed more weight in the bow, so I simply added a separate battery up front and connected the clamps, easy!

    Evinrude 25hp

I’ve got the same year/size motor. Had it for about 18 years. Sometimes when cold, it acts like the battery is down, even though battery’s fine and the connection are good. My solution is to simply get the starter cord out and pull start it. It typically takes 2 or 3 tries but once she’s running...

    1997 Lowe 165 (l165 eu?)

welcome Ki4ux, where will you be boating? I’ve got the little brother to yours- a Lowe 1448. Over the years I’ve added some things you might want to consider- a small steering console, an electrical junction box, a fishfinder, running lights, horn, a lighter socket, and a bow troller. Feel...

    Deep cycle or staeting battery

Wait a minute! I’m willing to bet there is enough room somewhere for a second battery. Might need to run some cables to a remote location, but it can be done. Reason I say this is because even on my 14’ Jonboat, I have 2 batteries, one being a group 31 big boy! But I agree with Tessie 1, listen...

    Batman! Dadadadadadadada!

This is a Mannerfelt B24, made in Sweden in the early 2000’s. This one was the first one imported to the US. 80+MPH with a single V8. Notice the Bat signal on the transom. Everyone calls it the Batboat.
