    Evinrude 55 1978 gearcase

imho the small crack surface area JB will cover will be visually ok by will not solidify the GC enough . you best best is to have it welded properly . Up to you.

    Evinrude 55 1978 gearcase

imho the crack is a concern and may render the next " collision" more catastrophic . You can get it welded and polished to restore some solidity. In th mean time keep checking the gear oil for contamination and adequate level. as to black soot it kind of normal just make certain that upon...

    Engine not starting

first.... the trim thing....if not a sticky trim button the relay contacts may have developped corrosion from arcing over time and...and are now sticking closed.... hence the trim motor not stopping. nothing to do with engine starts. starting or not... ETECs don't like loose connections...

Stalling at Idle and Idle Speed

OP said fuel pump was "tested... by EV mechanic". symptom still indicates possible bad pump if " hand pumping" steadies the engine !

    2014 Evinrude KNOCKING sound

I noticed there is oddly some oil on/in the inside of the air intake box seems strange .... just my humble opinion...ETEC oil is directly injected inside the engine and none in the fuel for your model (early ETEC had "oil in fuel injection" but stopped around 2008) faulty reed valve...

Johnson Outboard Motor MODEL NO J30PL4SD 4 Stroke 30Hps Stalls after 20 minute use, then restarts after waiting 5 minutes

restarting after a 5 min. period would seem to indicate some form of fuel flow problem impacted by poor venting and a vacum build up that eventually clears out. the alternative imho would be an electrical component fault caused by a high temperature intolerance eventually cleared...

1974 9.9 Johnson running problems. I can get it started but then runs very ruff.

if sparks ok sounds like crud ending up in the carb... maybe just a bad grey hose plugged tank pick-up, venting etc... sometimes badly stored engines end up with dried out fuel and running them years later loosens all that " varnish" and plugs the carb. time to take it apart.
