Trailer guides with step in the way

Actually I have both, the side guides do the actual work of centering the boat in poor loading conditions but added poles for a visual effect when water is high.

    Trailer Brakes

Believe what you want but China makes them so cheap they don't care. The real cost us added on due to the rigorous testing when they arrive in the US ! If you know anyone involved with foreign inspections in the U S you will see that is not uncommon at all. One reason the US wants to deal with...

Trailer guides with step in the way

Honestly, I find poles to be fairly useless, in my 60 years of boating I find side guides to be far more usefull. Mine are 5' long on each side with less than an inch clearance on each side. The boat drives itself on fully centered each time no matter the wind or current. Just some food for...

    Water in the fuel

Yes it could come thru the vent.... Had that issue some years back and found I needed an upward loop in the vent hose. The upward loop keeps water from running back into the tank. Also check the vent to be sure the opening is not catching spray while underway. Also be careful where you buy...

    Trailer Brakes

Many companies do that today, it is how they are checked over when they get here ! Have a friend that works for the "I phone" folks...when a batch comes in from China, each one is tested and inspected because China does not allow our inspectors into the country to inspect before shipping. On...

    Alumacraft layoff..

I see in today's news that Alumacraft has had a massive layoff, no detaiks, but makes me wonder.....have new boats priced themselves out of business ? I know very well that everything has gone up in price, who doesn't ? Just hope that this is not a trend that is starting !!

    Trailer Brakes

One thing I have learned after decades of working on these things, don't cut corners unless you enjoy doing it over again !! When it is time for brakes, I do the whole axle on a car or both axles on a trailer if a tandem. Costly yes, but once and done, then longer between replacements...

    Lund Adventure 1675 Draft

Your best bet is to load up your boat and put in the water then check with a tape measure or do you have a water line mark on your transom to measure to. My guess is the boat needs a foot to float in with motor tilted all the way up.

What type of gas tank for '79 Johnson 35hp?

If taken care of, they are OK. Try to keep them out of hot sun, keep cap cracked open when not underway to keep pressure from building up. After some years check for plastic becoming brittle. If subjected to extreme cold be care full of impacts so they don't crack. With proper care they will...

    Lund Adventure 1675 Draft

All depends on how it is loaded, how big/ heavy is the motor, how many people, are you considering hull bottom or clearance for lower unit/ prop ?

What type of gas tank for '79 Johnson 35hp?

No...they do rust if water gets inside. They are a form of galvanized steel so as long as a gas/oil mix is left in them, rust is rare, but neglected tanks will rust clean thru. Look into inside the tank, if any rust...pass on it and look for another one ! With any care at all the inside...
