2.00 ratio Alpha one gen 2

Never understood a hunting gear set. In addition to the difficulties of reassembly, I'd think that you'd always want to spread the wear around to all the gears equally

3.0 mercruiser ran for 5 min good. Then Just died?

I mean, sure sounds like the float based on your previous posts. Have you tried tapping the carb while it's running to see if that helps?

    Merc 470 cam seal

If you're going through the trouble, there is zero reason not to replace the seal as well. Do you really want to do the job again if the seal was bad?

2.00 ratio Alpha one gen 2

If it hasn't been mentioned already, you can just check the serial number of your drive and erase all doubt. But in general, on a 3.0, you'll want a general 2:1 ratio. 1.94., 1 98 isn't going to make a difference

    5.7 LX starter

Just as an aside, my boat got submerged at the end of the season last year, working to restore it, I disassembled my DB electrical starter and cleaned it, rebuilding the carb as we speak, will fire it up either this weekend or next, I'll update my ongoing thread with that

    Pressure test 1990 Alph1 Gen1

You can pressure test the halves separately to narrow things down

    5.7 LX starter

Get one anyway. Ease of installation alone makes it worth the money. I've used db electrical for a few starters and alternators with good results. Very cheap as well

    5.7L Non-Vortec to Vortec conversion

I had some plumbing/wiring issues; I did the same on my 4.3 and ran into some trouble because the 4 bbl carb sat differently on the manifold than the 2bbl. My fuel lines didn't fit right, and my throttle and shifter cables were routed differently. I needed to get a different bracket for those...

    Mercruiser 3.0 No Spark issues

No, you can for sure have your symptoms with overly advanced timing. Get it right and see how it runs

    Mercruiser 3.0 No Spark issues

Not seeing any signs of detonation, though they look pretty lean

Mercruiser 4.3…Milky oil coming from timing cover.

I've pulled that plug a few times now, always bone dry. And even if there was water in there, there's plenty of expansion room. You got a copy of that bulletin?

Mercruiser 4.3…Milky oil coming from timing cover.

Yeah, we've had this discussion before. It isn't necessary to drain, none of the service manuals (that I can find) mention it, that space is cavernous and drains (almost?) completely when you pull the t stat hose. Someone prove me wrong (@Scott Danforth )

    Mercruiser 3.0 No Spark issues

Absolutely, being too advanced. You can't time an engine with anything but a timing light. Muffs is fine.

How does the Mercruiser Shift Switch work?

Save yourself the trouble. Disconnect the lower shift cable and manually move it. There should be almost no resistance to shifting the drive. If there's even a "well, that doesn't take too much effort" amount of effort, it's too much effort and your cable (or less likely something else in the...

What? No, no to all of that.

    4.1 mercruiser

A ½ dollar fits nicely in there with some epoxy. Interestingly actual money is cheaper than the merc part
