    Start with a full tune up, replace fuel filter(s) and inspect contents. I'm guessing this is thunderbolt ignition? Have you replaced the ignition sensor with the latest OEM three wire and properly grounded? Could possibly be the carb, check fuel pressure/vacuum

    You can bypass the cooler, won't hurt for temporary testing purposes. Other culprits could be cracked block or head, possible head gasket failure

    You need to find out if you are loosing fuel or spark. You say you connected 12 volts to the pump and same results. You mentioned in an earlier post two pumps? Did you 12 volt both? Have you checked for loss of spark?

    1/2 turn out on a Holley (which I'm guessing you have) isn't uncommon for idle/air mix. As stated those control fuel, not air and only at idle speed. When was the last full tune up, with fuel filters?

    Not properly adjusted throttle cable comes to mind. Needs to be adjusted/set with the throttle closed/idle with slight preload again the throttle arm stud

    Sounds like a main power relay having intermittent issues. Easy test, just swap from other motor and see if the problem moves to the other motor

    If fuel economy is high on your list you may consider other hobbies than power boating. As stated, best option is the one in better shape, less hours, proven routine maintenance, etc....

    At this point I'd say you have one or both rams leaking internally or a faulty valve in the pump itself. Rams can be rebuilt or purchased aftermarket, pump valves ought to be still available oem

    Most likely corrosion, faulty ground(s), deteriorated wiring, loose/worn connections, stripped/crossed wire(s) or someone changed wiring the incorrect way

    Best is to stack it next to the main battery ground on the flywheel cover stud. Thus ensures the best ground possible and why the ring terminal for the ground is 3/8" Grounding this way is required for efi engines but also recommended for all thunderbolt ignition systems

    Could be different heads on your donor motor. Is there a difference between valve covers? One stamped and rounded corners vs cast and sharp edges?

    Could be a saturated float, did you install new? Power piston you mention is I'm guessing the accelerator pump? If you see fuel above that it's a leak, did you replace the umbrella in the pump? Have you checked fuel pressure?
