    Old fuel looses its power, especially after a year. Fuel lines come apart/ disolve from the inside and contaminate the fuel passing thru it.

    Is the new carb a factory replacement or a chinese copy from Amazon ? Has the carb been setup and adjusted to the engine? Did you clean out the fuel system, replaced all filters, have an inline filter, and using fresh fuel ?? How good is the fuel line from tank, they only last a few years ??

    Yea be xarefull with Acetone, it can melt/ distort any plastic or rubber parts...better to use carb cleaner and compressed air.

    What is wrong with the 140 I /O ?? Loved mine, easy on fuel, repair parts are much cheaper and I could reach 40 plus mph. Outboards are more expensive to buy up front. To answer your question, it is a job !! Doable yes but needs to be done right!!
