    the shut down may be computer controlled to save your engine (y) if the tank vent is working (try running with the cap off) check all fuel connections for air leaks with any ETEC you need to access the computer (EMM) fault log using EV Diagnostic sw. to assist in touble shooting...

    B+ from the battery goes directly on the solenoid mian post where other wires connect ex: rec/regulator output, power to a fuse then to the key sometimes etc.... if you suspect a drain somewhere the only way to find out is to diconnect those extra wires on the solenoid and with key...

    seems Motor wouldn't crank but solenoid clicked. I felt and heard the solenoid operate so the switch itself should be ok no ?

    if you have not removed and cleaned all main power connections on the solenoid......battery starter etc... replacing the starter would not be my first step. high current drain is needed by the starter and non-operation can be a simple current flow issue across oxydize surfaces...
