Bravo 3 Oil Leak - Oh No !!!

The drive has been on for about 2 years and came out of the water last November . . . maybe the oil had been seeping for a while even in the water.

Bravo 3 Oil Leak - Oh No !!!

As if I did not already have enough things to do with my new-2-me boat, I noticed a oil spot below the port outdrive this weekend. . . Following it up to the outdrive . . . . . . . . and then upward . . . . . It looks to be dripping from the oil line. I also noticed a trace of oil seepage...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

More pictures from today . . . The bow section is done. Next will be the helm seats, then onto the rear settee. I'm still fussing with the sunpad actuator/relay. . . . . . . .

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

The installation begins . . . Sidewall trim . . . . . . Helm Trim . . . . . Bow seating . . . . Nothing fits the same way going back in, so it is a slow process. I am trying to diagnose an issue with the rear 'sunpad' actuator (it is supposed to raise/lower the rear seat assembly...

    Cushion and Seat Rebuild

Most newer boats use HDPE (i.e. StarBoard) for upholstery frames and backing. You can certainly use plywood, but you should treat it with a wood sealer of some sort (search Old Timer's Wood Sealant) before you mount foam and upholstery covering to it.

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

I meant to say 'cushion' in the above post (not curtain) . . . spell checker  Anyway, I am not as practiced at 'boxed' cushions as I am with the other stuff. So, the cushion is not quite as good as I'd like, but the filler cushion tends not to be used all that often.

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

Update . . . I have been traveling for the past month, but now I'm back at the summer house and finishing up the upholstery. . . This is the bow filler curtain to form a sunpad. Next steps are to: Remove the winter cover from the boat Do a little bit of prep work and repairs on the seat...

    Windlass struggling to pull rope

I had a similar situation with braided line (anchor rode). As the line would stretch under load, the diameter got too small for the gypsy. I believe the gypsy had some wear on it, which did not help matters. My solution was to go up to the next size line (so from 1/2" to 5/8"). . . problem...

    Trim sender/gauge

It may not be properly positioned on the gimbal ring which would cause it to not read correctly. There is a procedure for setting and adjusting the sender (outlined in the outdrive manual) that makes adjustment fairly simple. Try that first then proceed onto other possibilities as needed

    1978 Chrysler floor help?

Well you can certainly see from the initial set of pictures why Chrysler no longer makes boats . . . You can re-build it better than it ever was . . . You might be trading the banana suit for the tyvek 'hazmat' suit when you get to the grinding phase of the restoration.

    Old fiberglass diagnosis

This boat is what you call 'end of life' . . . Yes, the gelcoat is dried, cracked, and oxidized. The structure is rotted . . . and the engine is not viable. The boat is 51 years old and it looks like it has not been taken care of. At some point there are just too many things to deal with and...

'86 Chris Craft 210 with Alpha one rot repair?

Typically, the 'damage' ( both moisture saturation and rot) go further than initially thought. The shop (or you) won't really know the extent of the damage until the 'demolition' phase is done. So, whatever quote/estimate you get, be prepared to have the actual cost be higher. Also, selection...

    Hey Newbies

Yes, some folks have too much faith in that Google knows their every move and thoughts and we can merely look it up by Googling . . . "Bob, Boat, Didn't Start" :ROFLMAO:

Craigslist scammers ? or am I being paranoid?

They will only scam you if you let them. Sounds like much of what you are getting can be ignored.

Just a minute to say Thank you.

I think this is the #1 place for boat evaluation, maintenance, and restoration knowledge on the Internet. So, it is nice to hear about the positive impact the forum has provided those who are new to boats and boating. The more that you know about your boat, the better off you will be when out...

    Wiring windless

Windlass (not windless) Do you have a master battery switch for the boat (like a Pero Switch)? It would be the common lug as you mentioned. Since the current to the windlass is so high (30+ amps) you cannot really run it through any instrumentation/helm type of switch. That is what the...

    Wiring windless

That updated diagram looks good. The positive lead goes from the breaker to the solenoid (not the switch)
