Does the Lower engine mount wear out?

OK, it sounds like a non issue..... Obviously, you have a fresh water motor..... Just for fun, you might pop off the lower mount covers and see if the rubber in the mounts have cracks.

    Ignition switch

It should use a magneto style ignition switch. Are they universal? They are mostly universal for outboard motors, but not for sterndrives. Look for one with the B, I, M, M C, S posts on them. Connect your point wires to the M terminals.

Does the Lower engine mount wear out?

The last time I replaced the upper mounts in my V6, even those bolts had to be cut. The mounts had corroded to the bolts where I could not drive the cut bolt end out of the mount with a punch and vise. I expect the lower mount bolts to be similar in their corrosion or worse.

Mid and lower unit trouble please help

I like to install the gearcase with the gearcase and control in neutral. Are you replacing the midsection? What is wrong with your's?

Does the Lower engine mount wear out?

So you cannot cut the lower mount bolts, drop the yoke and pry the mounts out of the midsection? It looks like you would need to put the bolts in thru the yoke first and put the nuts on the new mounts in the midsection. I never had to change them on my V6, but it sure looks like you could...

Does the Lower engine mount wear out?

The top mount requires that you remove the powerhead. Pretty serious repair for a novice. The bottom mount requires that you remove the gearcase. You should then be able to pop the mounts out of the midsection and drop the yoke, bolts and mounts as a unit.

Does trimming the engine make any difference? It should.

Does the Lower engine mount wear out?

On my '93 Merc, the top mounts wore out. The bottom was fine. Give the motor a pull and wiggle to check the top and bottom mounts for looseness. You might locate/price new mounts for that motor. The Merc ones were outrageously expensive, and the aftermarket (Sierra) were not plentiful. I...

14 foot jon boat with 8 hp motor almost plane.

Gee, I ran a 7.5 HP motor on my 12 Jon, and it was too much power. I was always afraid she would flip over backwards if I ran into the wind. 5HP planed it easily. You need to experiment with load placement and perhaps prop to get her to behave. How about a tiller extension? You should have...

    Murcury 850 thunderbolt stator

See if CDI Electronics or Sierra make one. They are used on the 1970s to 1980 4 and cylinder models. The last 4 cylinder motor that used that kind of stator was the 1975 Merc 850. The last IL6 that used that stator was the 1979 1/2 Merc 115HP. Later motors used the ADI style stator with many...

    Murcury 850 thunderbolt stator

That stator only charges the battery. It is separate from the ignition system. I would recommend you make sure the ign system functions, before worry about the stator on your motor. The triggers on those distributor models often gets intermittent at this point in it's life.

    Help this rookie Read Timing

Your motor looks to be 80's or 90's. Not many Mercs of that vintage have traditional woodruff keys. Those Mercs have a "W" shaped where the flywheel and crankshaft mate. The inner flywheel can only go on one way. Now the outer flywheel can go on 6 or 8 different ways......

    1989 Mercury 115 fuel/air issue

You might check the fuel pump diaphram. If they get a hole, raw fuel gets into the crankcase, flooding some cylinders and causing hesitation.

    OMC Remote Control Neutral Lock-out

Susie, Johnnyrude outboards differ from Mercs in that they push the throttle open, whereas Mercs push the throttle closed. Both brands pull the shift cable forward for forward and push the cable for reverse. Some controls have 4 cable connections, as they are universal fit. You need to pick...

    sheared woodruff key?

If you find the key is sheared, you will need to get the broken part out of the crankshaft, and replace it with an OEM key. Normally it takes a small chistle or punch to get it out. Usually the keys shear when the flywheel is not torqued properly, so get the factory torque setting and tighten...

    2000’s merc 90hp 2 stroke

You can look up parts for your engine on the crowleymarine web site. You will need a serial number or year and HP.

    loosing fuel pressure

Your circle looks to be on the pressure side. No air should be sucked in there. I would look upstream of your fuel pump. Maybe the air is coming in slow, between the fuel pump and the fuel tank, and accumulated in the part you circled?

    2000’s merc 90hp 2 stroke

Since I do not know the exact year of the motor, you may have coils or CDM Modules. Trace the wires from the coils back to a box about the size of 2 packs of playing cards. That will be the switchbox. See if it has a yellow/black wire on it and disconnect it. I am not real familiar with...

    2000’s merc 90hp 2 stroke

Disconnect the black/yellow wire at the switchbox. If she then has spark, the trouble is somewhere in the wiring harness or control box.
