    When it won’t start back up do you have spark ? If not would check shift interrupt or disconnect it to test( won’t come out of gear though) If you have spark dump a little gas down the carb if it fires for a bit then it’s fuel related Just need to determine if you have spark issue or gas issue

    Only time ive seen that is when i had the coil wire off the cap was testing spark and didnt have it grounded so coil energy had no where to go.     As long as you mark where you were before adjusting you can always put it back and be no worse off. one issue i ran into adjusting mine (2003) is the barrel nut was factory peened onto the cable thread So you cant adjust it.
