    relay contacts may be pitted battery may be weak battery cables could be causing poor current flow (needs to cleaned up at all junctions) test the motor by directly applying powere see if it goes up and own ok what year and mdl # is it ??

    I would buy a gallon or 2 of cheap vinegar warm it up good and hang it 2 feet above the pee hole then it hook up with a small drip line....into the pee hole to help clear any "caltrate" issues . anything goes now....

    what you likley have is a broken wire or defective start key. if yourengine does have a safety interrupt along the wires controlling the selenoid then you must test hit for continuity when in NEUTRAL parts diagram shows a wire to a safety switch via a small wire off the selenoid...

    why not clean the carb inspec the coils for cracks test the ohms value bettwen plug boots and engine body you should see 4-8 kohms steady could be plug wires flexing and open these engines are not very complicated but require the usual TLC carb impeller coils plugs timing...

    a recent case was related to overheating in a coil module oddly in your case it seems to need extra heat to start working.... recheck all connections and grounding associated with coils. heat may be expanding & closing a broken or oxydized connection .

    if such is the case (leaky injector) the fault detection of the EMM would probably not flag it in the fault log. Injector leak testing would help diagnose the issue followed by proper servicing or replacement $$$ mean while maybe a clean up would help.... see video injectors...
