    How much trim?

I have had several boats in the same shallow cove (23-27" deep at end of dock) for many years. So basically I am forced to use the trailer button to trim essentially all the way up (7/8 out or so) just to get it in and out of the hoist, plus 7 min of idle speed out to deeper water. Its a great...

    1987 4.3l 205 high oil pressure

Trying to push more volume through same passages requires more pressure Just curious - How much looser do you run the clearances in this case? Does this provide better longevity at high rpm?

    1987 4.3l 205 high oil pressure

HV pump is not needed. Might also be worth popping a bearing cap and checking clearances. Either the pump has too much capacity and or wrong spring or the clearances are too tight. Try the std volume pump and see what you get. This has some points made in question area below the pump specs...

seriously need some experts help on this one, no water exits manifolds

Right would think something is wrong as the check balls feed risers constantly, someone must have mixed and matched parts . Is there any advantage to warm manifolds vs cold ones with constant flow ?

    Stalls on acceleration under load

I had to chisel my rotor off did not use loctite to put new one on… You may be able to get the bowl top off with out screwing up the gaskets, you need to clean inside passages not just spray power tune down the bores At least you can adjust float to see if that cures it while waiting on kit

    Trim limit switch

Trim limit switch plugs into the trim pump harness at the pump. Trim indicator sender plugs into engine harness to get sent up to the helm this is for a complete merc setup. Was the entire omc set up torn out or do you have some mix and match

Bought a new long block and wondering about the coupling and gimbal bearing.

Nice to see the project coming together after all this time. Nice clean install with the factory brackets . Would be interested to hear what kind of AFR you are getting. I'm going to be installing mine this weekend. I put a phenolic 1/2" or maybe 1" spacer under my carb last summer to help with...

    1997 3.0XL carb rebuild kit

Always had good tech support from Mike's. Post a picture of the carb we can probably ID it. Does it have one or two idle mixture screws ? If it is the factory carb it will be a mercarb.

    Transmission Woes in Vintage Mercruiser

Some one cobbled this already. Originally grandpas boat came with a white tilt pump and reservoir (combined not separate) that took ATF. Had a very small reservoir that was a PITA to fill. A machinist buddy of his rigged up a pipe attached to it to enlarge the reservoir. Didn't fix the issues...

Mercruiser 6.2l 300 (2018 model) Gimbal bearing grease how to?

they went to permalube gimbal bearings in like 2008 so no grease fitting is there anymore All OEM replacement gimbal bearings are now lubed for life as they say... Coupler should have a zerk or two on it to grease the splines. Get a factory manual for the drive and engine will have all the...

    Transmission Woes in Vintage Mercruiser

Do you have a factory manual for that drive ? Unfortunately most of us don't have hands on experience with that drive due to age and limited amount built vs later drives like MC-1 and alphas. So would recommend finding the factory manual and adjusting cables to spec. Merc only made this drive...

    Spark plug gap difference

correct some of the higher end plugs like iridium are pre-gapped and you cant change them. Don't waste your money on iridium for a 3.0 standard ac delcos will be fine and you can replace them five times for the same cost ... what plug are u using or did you just not gap them and it was .031"...
