What is this on the transom?

No, the Depth Finder Sensor was off the boat that I traded in, but the Speedo tube was there from the factory. The Dealer, likely pulled the tube back, drilled out the Hole and used some sealer when both tube and wire were put thru.

    Cavitation Burns

I first saw Cavitation Burn back in 1975, on our 1965 90hp's small hub props, on the same side of the Blade, just closer to the Gearcase. Likely caused by the Vacuum Bubbles formed as water went past the End of the Gearcase, and when it contacted the prop blade, collapsed, hammering little pits...

What is this on the transom?

My sx195 at rest. The Speedo hose, and the Depth Finder wire were both routed through above the water line, just Port of the Outdrive, below the Tow Eye. Also mounted in the area is a Switch added so I could Operate the Trim Pump when behind the boat.

1972 Johnson 85 HP outboard fuel filter location.

There are a lot of Differences between a 72 85hp and a 96 60hp. So the Video is not applicable, unless the 72 had been butchered

    Carburetor tuning on muffs

Most engines have an in gear idle speed of about 600-650rpm, which in neutral could be any where from 675-1000, depending on what load was on the engine while in gear. A change in Propellers can result in a change in the In Gear Idle rpm. Most Idle Mix screws/needles are set at 1 1/2 from...

    1150 Link & Sync Question

The Bolt Pattern on that Yammy, is the Pattern that OMC brought out in 1960, and has been used by most Outboard Makers since the late 70s, Mercury finally starting using it in 1984 in their I6s and 66.6 4 inline, and in 85 on the V6s

    1150 Link & Sync Question

The thru transom Bolts are what will be holding the Engine on, So if there is a gap of an inch or two between the Transom Bracket and top of the Transom no big Deal. Most Outboards are mounted off the top of the Transom these days. If the top Bolt Holes are very close to the Top of the Transom...

    Carburetor tuning on muffs

If the boat is anchored at the Stern, or secured to a Secure Dock, the engine can be adjusted for mixture and Idle Speed while in gear. Just be sure to have the Throttle Cable disconnected at the motor while adjusting, then once the Speed is adjusted, adjust the Cable Length, to provide a bit of...

    1150 Link & Sync Question

I can't answer if you would be disappointed with a new 115. I know I certainly would be. As for the transom, I would be putting a bit more Glass, with a Larger Overlap, along any Interface. I have seen many repairs done where the transom was cut out like yours, new wood installed and a narrow...

    1150 Link & Sync Question

Newer Motors have height adjustment built into the Bracket that your old inline didn't have. However a Jack Plate can also be used. As for more power, 4 strokes to tend to be lacking in Torque compared to 2 strokes of the same HP rating(might be why there are so many 'will 150hp be enough to...

    daily music fix

In the 70s I too, wasn't a fan of Country, I Hated it. In the late 80s Pop Music was in the Toilet, and then cRap came along. In comparison, I loved Country(even though my opinion of it, was really no Different). It did grow on me over the years, and I can now even listen to the stuff from the...

What is this on the transom?

They are mounted separately. A bit of Sealer and the holes are water tight. Where they are mounted on my Hull, there is no Wood to rot. Actually these Glastrons are a very poorly made Boat. Mine ended up with a complete delamination of the Transom, and Glastron did "F" All, pretty much treating...

    Caprice Shudder at Hwy Speed

Ride Height can affect Driveline Angles, and that can create Vibrations. Can be difficult to track down as any change to the weight of the vehicle can and will cause the Vibrations to vary. In the Mid 80s I had an Olds Regency, with a very odd vibration, varied in intensity, location, and could...
