    2020 Ranger towing?

I’m guessing there is a reason why it’s still on the lot. While the V6, 3.5 and 2.7 turbos are pulling animals, the 2.3 turbo is a 4 cylinder. No where near the low end torque and HP of the V6 turbos. Also keep in mind that there is more than one tow package, at least on the F150. Understand...

Need a floor fastener for fiberglass, screws all stripped

Same thing here...half of the screws holding the access cover over the fuel tanks had stripped and started to leak. This procedure works well Product: White or Gray Marine-Tex Epoxy Putty -Materials: 80-100 grit sandpaper, a drill-bit slightly larger than the original fastener hole, WD-40 or...

    Reseal cabin door frame

The weather stripping on my electronics box, gauge cover, cabin door, etc. where closed cell foam rubber with peel and stick backing. Just squeezed the appropriate amount of 847 adhesive the peel and stick and spread it around with an acid brush.

Anyone here interested in Japanese kitchen knives?

Bought a set of Henckels back in the 80's. Used them as our primary set until a couple of months ago when my wife came home with a set of "new" Henckels she got at the thrift store. The steel is nowhere close to the weight or quality of the originals. Have a ton of "antique" carbon steel...

    Maxum 25.5 leaning

Having a head time envisioning this happening with the tabs properly adjusted. Fixed or adjustable tabs? How far off the chine are the tabs? Ideally you should be 3-4" off each side.

    Prop suggestions

Nickel has nothing to do with the corrosion resistance or shine of the material. Nickel is a rather soft, off-white material used to impart “toughness” (make softer, reduces cracking) and reduce work hardening. Stainless steel’s corrosion resistance comes from its chromium content. The “bling”...

Just Purchased used 175 Yamaha Outboard (Are theses good engines)

There is nothing special about the electronics of modern outboards. Nothing there that couldn't be fixed, upgraded or replaced outright if there is a market for replacement parts. I suspect you'll find the OE's don't sale enough replacement electronics to make it worth the effort to source the...

    Garmin 93SV Installation questions

Unless you add a switch to isolate connector 1 from connector 2, both connectors are active at the same time. If something shorts the connector at station A, you short station B as well Add the switches into the mix and you see why I walked on the project and went with second transducer

2001 wellcraft 24 WA 5 inch rise in outboard and storage captain seat

I have an "open" transom on my boat. In all the years I've owned it, I've not had a single situation where five more inches of transom height would have made a difference one way or the other. I've had a splash well full of water a number of times........nothing concerning. IMHO, do it right...

    Garmin 93SV Installation questions

And a terminated cable isn’t? Wouldnt matter here anyhow...signal return wires. If interference shows up on the supply side you have an issue the pulse generator, not the cable. Lots of problems with “junk electronics” in the past blamed on erroneous routing of transducer cables.

New bearings: too much movement on spindle

If the pads have come unattached from the backing plate they are trash. With all the rust in the piston area, have you checked to make sure the pistons are not seized?

    Garmin 93SV Installation questions

In the electronics manufacturing business. Working with 22 and 24 awg shielded wiring is very time consuming and meticulous work. Wouldn’t try to solder. Would go with screw terminations in a sealed enclosure like this...

    Garmin 93SV Installation questions

Nope...your not "sharing" the transducer between units. Your sharing the Display (data) via NMEA 2000 I stayed away from the splice box because of the work involved. Couldn't find an "off the shelf" switch box to accommodate a 12 pin side scan transducer connector. You would need to design and...

    Garmin 93SV Installation questions

I looked into sharing a SV transducer with a second unit when I installed a 94SV 3 years ago. The cleanest is to install a second display and “share” the transducer via NMEA 2000. You could buy a splice box, an extension cable and a second cradle mount. The splice box would allow you to...

1997 Maxum Bowrider I/O V8 want to replace carpet with fishing friendly alternative

I was in the same “boat” so to say with my first boat. Don’t know what was worst, the mold, the stains or that piece of squid that somehow managed to get stuck in the bilge for a week In the end, it turned out to be a good excuse as any....sold the boat and bought one with non-skid and a self...

    GPH Question

That is a very old unit. Does not support NEMA 2000 communications. Looks like your stuck with an alternative solution unless you update the plotter Wind, current and waves all play a huge roll in fuel consumption. The more resistance to the boat making headway, the more horsepower required to...
