How to wrap carpet on side bunks

Leaving an open side/ bottom is a great idea to let the water evaporate out of the wood. Retaining all that water will shorten the life of the wood, that is how I have wrapped all my wood in the past.

    Pontoon speed vs rpm

For whatever reasons my experience with pontoons is that they need more hp than a onventional V bottom of the same size to go the same speed. When running at 10-15 mph they do pretty good on fuel but when real speed is wanted, it takes a lot of extra hp to get them moving. Extra hp means more...

    Opinion on Monaro

Being a 1989, it should have a good marine survey to check for any hidden rotted wood in stringers and transom . Hulls rot from bottom up so you need to get in deep for a quality inspection !! If it qould be rotted, you would double the price to get it fixed easily

How to tell a replacable hub prop

I am using a prop shop that is local, tgey have an excellent customer rating, been here for over 40 years. Even looked up Ebay and Amazon, for brand name (not foreign imports) the prop shells are still 140 and up. I have learned that outboard props are more expensive then I/O props. My current...

How to tell a replacable hub prop

I was quoted 240 for a Mercury prop and hub, where a fixed hub was only 140. The cost of just the prop on the replaceable hub was 180, cant see why anyone would go that route?

16ft lund aluminium boat add kicker motor

Can be off a little without a problem. I have a 40 merc as my main engine with plenty of room for my kicker on my 16' Sylvan. They are close but clear each other. My kicker is set for straight ahead and I steer with my bow mt trolling motor, having the remote steering makes it a breeze.

How to tell a replacable hub prop

As I am learning about these, I am inclined to think the same way. Only ever sheared one shear pin in over 50 years of boating, haveing plastic drive tabs doesnt sound like a better plan....and they are not cheap in any way !!!

Ok guys, I have recently aquired a Mercury 1992 40hp 2 stroke 4 cylinder outboard motor. It does not have a spare prop so I went looking for one. It seems these came with a prop with a replacable hub or a prop with a fixed hub. I pulled my current prop but cant tell. Have been a boater for...

I am updating my live well.....

    Size of outboard

Probably not very accurate, I use my gps for all speed tests. Cant believe you would get a 5 mph drop for adding one passenger. With a gps, you might find a better spot for your trim setting which could gain you some mph....

Concerned about Hull Config / Cramped Engine Bay

Toss up....have had both, here is my thoughts...I/O..easier to work on, parts are cheaper, more maintenence, usually better fuel economy. With an OB....more room in the boat, OB is more expensive up front, parts are more expensive, however easier to repower even though more costly. They each...
