Good point, my trolling motor is supposed to run for 6 hours at wot and my kicker gas motor has a 4 hour run capacity in fuel. Between the two I have 10 hours of run time....at 3-4 mph..... 30 plus miles, guess I am good !!

What are the best ST225/75R/15 boat tires?

At 12 years it was well beyond its life expectancy!!! Just had a flat repaired last week....the tire shops will not touch any tire over 7 years old, other than to replace it!! Supposed to be a new regulation...some shops now consider 1/8" tread as worn out, so no repair on those either.

    Size of outboard

I have a very similiar boat, mine is a Sylvan 16' side console. Mine has 3 group 31 batteries and a marine starting battery ( heavy). With two adults and my gear mine will do 30 mph and 32 with just me. Gets up on plane well and actually performs quite well. I have a 1992 40 hp Merc 2 stroke...

What does the inside of my transom look like?

Mounted a similiar unit to the back of my Islander a few years back. All I can say is...stainless bolts all the way thru, with aluminum or stainless plates on the inside. Do not use lag bolts anywhere on a boat. Washers and acorn nuts wont last. A quarter inch thick aluminum plate at least...

There are many in the market, just make sure it is for deep cycle batteries !! Deep cycle batteries do not like high/fast charge rates, I have used a 2 amp battery maintainer/ charger for years on both my trolling and my motorhome house batteries with excellent results. I have used " battery...

Concerned about Hull Config / Cramped Engine Bay

I was in the same situation some years back, knowing that I do most of my own work, and knowing what marine service can cost, I walked away from a number of boats that had restricted acess to the engine. I ended up getting a Starcraft 22' Islander, it had enough room to acess three sides of the...

    Is the buddy heater safe?

Cant imagine a zipped canvass cover being airtight, but as with all things, use common sense....only use a heater that has an O2 sensor and be on the lookout for signs of co2 issues.
