    Towing and Cockpit cover concerns?

If your snaps are popping off you might consider a better quality snap..Mine are tight, hard to snap on and off, in fact my fingers get sore snapping them. Had some issues with cheap snaps in the past, just replaced them with quality snaps... again, never had snaps pop off while on the...

    1987 mercruiser 3.0

The hose from the tank vent needs to make an upward loop to keep any water that might enter the vent from enteringbthe fuel tank. Did you check for water in your fuel? Fuel filter/ water separater clean? If the float is sticking then time for a thorough rebuild....

    Additional bilge compartment?

If your not real handy with fiberglass work seek professional help!! Inside the glass there is a wood substructure, water gets into the wood and causes it to rot. Look especially close at the transom, weakness there could be catastrophic....

I had an 18' Starcraft bow rider with the tonneau cover on the front then another cover from windshield back, then another picket cover for the motor. Never had straps, only snaps, never had an issue, towed that boat for over 8 years

    Hydrofoil

A hydrafoil should be a last resort, it creates excess drag and slows you down at WOT. Try repositioning weight/passengers to get a better balance. Do you have power trim? Your boat might get on plane faster, but it will cost you mph at WOT. Breaking the AV plate has been a problem with these...

    Towing and Cockpit cover concerns?

I would have to disagree there, I have been into boats for over 60 years and have had numerous covers that I trailered with, that never had straps on it !! A good fitting cover with snaps should be able to be towed with no issues ! One reason straps are needed is the cover is a sloppy fit...

What type/size of boat to get for the St. Lawerence river?

In years back I had a 22' and had no issues in rough water. My definition of rough is 3 footers, much higher is better to stay home. The CC is great for fishing but not as a people carrier in my opinion. Seating is lacking to gain fishing area. Today there may be better layouts than what was...

    Easiest to crank manual winch

Bought a winch from West Marine, made by Fulton but West has a better price. Very well built and much bigger than the old winch. The drum is much larger but not filled with the strap as it is only 20' so gaining some mechanical advantage there. Also a longer handle with a very comfortable grip...
