    Prop suggestions for 2005 Sylvan V180 3.0L

I would agree based on information given. He is pushing a heavy boat so hole shot may not be great. My neighbor has a Sylvan 21' aluminum with the 140 hp 3.0. With a 21" pitch prop he can easily get 42 mph with a couple adults, but his has only a 18 gallon tank so even less weight. He...

    Fuel line connection

Because the people have learned to accept that. We would rather accept cheap junk than to not have it at all !! Believe it or not, these are things these types of engineers work thru and think about....big companies pay big bucks for engineers to figure this crap out, I know I was quite...

    Fuel line connection

It is all about expected lifespan. They try to estimate what a reasonable life expectancy should be....for example that fitting should last 5-6 years then expect to replace it. We could make it last forever but the public will be happy with 5 years so we can use plastic at a cheap price. We...

thread wear on prop shaft what is causing it?

I believe the thread is deeper at the beginning and gets more shallow as it gets closer to the straight spline area. That is what I am seeing in your pic. Threading tools have a taper on the lead in, so when it threads that shaft, the leading edge with the taper is where the thread runs out.

Replacement Gas Cap - help needed

Being plastic the gas will dry the plastic out making the cap hard to thread, this makes it harder to turn, people add more force and they break !!! Keep the threads coated with a little silicone grease to keep the plastic from sticking and becomming tight.

    Alignment Tool

Calipers are not what we call a precision neasuring tool in my trade. Much better than a yard stick of course. The fits are generally only a coupe/ three thousands which is difficult to measurecwith a xaliper to that degree of accuracy. A persons feel can be that far off. Look up your outdrive...
