    opinions ---hub temps

Besides adding grease, when have you actually pulled the bearings, checked them and hand packed before reinstalling?? Both outter and inner!! This should be done every 3 years even with hub grease ports!! You might have some bearings that need replaced....

    help with iffy gas?

Just sold my 1983 Islander with original 3.0 140 hp. Ran excellent, idle all day at 600 rpm without stalling. Compression was 148-152 across al 4 cylinders. Didnt use any oil and very easy on fuel. My 22' Islander would do 34 mph with two adults and fishing gear.....no where near end of life...

    trailer wants

I agree with SilverTip....not worth the trouble, to add another axle... look into better tires if the capacity of your trailer is adequate....

    Bunks with plastic on top

When you cover the bunks leave the bottom side open to allow the water to get out. When I did mine, I just used regular ole pine 2x4 and they are over 5 yrs old and still going strong !!

    What is this hose?

Cant say that is true, just had my new to me boat out on the river doing some testing and getting familiar with things. Current was rolling pretty good but not affecting the gps in any way. Yes your boat will go quicker with the current and loose a little going against it, but that is due to...

    Top end speed

37 mph and you want more speed ??? Around here we can rarely cruise above 24-25 mph as the Lake is to rough for any more than that...running at wot for long periods of time will definetly shorten the life of your engine.

    Recommendations for cleaning bilge?

Most any degreaser will work, but.....dont pump that out into the lake!!! I use the little pods that we put into our dishwasher, toss one orbtwo into the bilge, add a few gallons of water then take it for a ride, even on your trailer. Drain and rinse the bilge, squeeky clean and smells great...

    What is this hose?

???? GPS measures time and distance across a grid on earths surface whether water or land. Being on the water should have no bearing on the distance and time traveled.

    1997 mercury 115hp oil injection

When I ran OMC motors I bypassed the oil injection as the reputation was questionable. Now I have a 92 merc, with oil injection. After much research and talks with numerous mechanics, they have assured me they are reliable. One guy works for a decent size marina and claims he has never saw a...

    What is this hose?

Those pressure speedometers are not very accurate anyway, far better results on your gps. Mine doesnt even read until you reach 20 mph, looks good on the dash though!!!

    Boat weight

Aluminum boat is the way to go, lighter to tow and they take less hp to push, saving on fuel. Yes they are a little harsher to ride in rough water, but when the water is rough we dont go boating!!! My 22' Starcraft Islander with a 140hp I/O and trailer, loaded with all our gear was under 3000...

    Ideal tongue weight?

The 10-15% rule works most of the time, I always start at 10% for the initial starting point. Some trailers differ so some experimenting is needed. Never heard of a towing problem with to much tongue weight, so error on the heavy side. Another thing to look at is keeping your trailer fairly...

Need a new Battery for 24V System

It is highly recomended to replace paired batteries as a pair only, never individually. Most mfgrs will void their warranty if a new battery is connected to a used battery. If your older battery developes a short or other issue, it will kill your new battery. Batteries do not charge well...

    97 Alumacraft MV Super Bandit

Sorry for my confusion, however using your starting battery to run accessories can be a gamble. If your accessories run the main battery to low, can you easily start your main engine with a pull rope ??? On my boat I have a group 24 for sole purpose of starting the main engine!! The second...

97 Mercury 40hp 2 stroke leaking water and exhaust.

Any technition that would tell you a 75 hp motor is OK on a boat that is rated for only 50 hp is not worth a grain of salt. Run dont walk, to get away from him !!!

    Trim Tab Anode

Might have fallen off, had one do that years back. The bolt came loose and the tab dropped into the deep blue sea!!! I suppose it could be on the highway, but probably in Davey's locker.. They are not really needed unless you have a steering pull in one direction or the other. If you dont...
