    bad impellers become slow ....sometimes sudden death change the impeller if not known to be recent btw try to rotate the idle speed knob on the side of the engine... it limits the handle travel to set the idle speed to a set point & it blocks the rotation range

    if it was mine.. opinions differ I would clean it up, polish the cyl head on flat (glass plate) surface using 150 grit paper till you see bare metal everywhere. clean it and blow off any grit clean up the mating surfaces on the power head (use a clean-sharp blade ...make no nicks !)...

    Plunge Choke etc

    figured that deep cycle battery was also used as a start battery ... like mine but true ....likley it is a manual start/choke engine mdl not specified as I recall some outboards have dual operation chokes but...whatever if it is just a manual choke then it is simpler :-)

    Port bank of engine = dirty; Starboard bank of engine = clean (internally).

    7mm regular solid core metallic copper or other metals is available on amazon, bike shops, mower repair shops etc... I know copper is preferred but 2 feet of solid metallic wire is still 0 ohms if you need special end connectors well you have to get the real stuff...$$$

    Plunge Choke etc

    assuming a 1976 35hp electric start model plunge... as in electric choke activated by a plunger in a selenoid ?? pull the cover & try a shot of wd40 or release agent on the " plunger " it should plunge easy and return with the spring when activated with a push on the start...

    you will have to remove the power head to access the shift under under it ... not as big a job as it seems 7 screws a few hoses and side side throttle post see video change the impeller ... ! if you are careful you may be able to save the main gasket under the PH otherwise you can...
