    Mercruiser 3.0 No Spark issues

I'm not sure if you are using what alldodge posted in post # 21 or the link I sent . In test #2 in what alldodge posted tests coil for short to ground same test is in #1 under ignition coil test in what I posted. If coil has short to ground I would expect no spark. Also as mentioned stick...

    Mercruiser 3.0 No Spark issues

I would verify that since you have 3 tests not getting any ohms , also I assume coil isn't shorted to ground? You didn't mention that

    Mercruiser 3.0 No Spark issues

As long as you got a good connection when sticking in terminals b,c,f meter probes may be too fat to get a good connection to the blade terminal inside of there.

    Extended Warranty

I generally decline them, as I figure the manufacturer wouldn't offer the warranty if they didn't make money on the warranty sale and I am one of the weirdos who actually enjoys working on stuff so I am only looking at potential parts cost. Now if you are the one out of 100 who has a big issue...

3.0 mercruiser ran for 5 min good. Then Just died?

I would also check the anti siphon valve in fuel line by tank pick up is opening and flowing, also worth checking fuel pick up tube screen for debris if this hasn't been done. Some pick ups have a somewhat hidden screen in the pick up tube.

I think this is out of a VP manual but outlines how to narrow it down https://f01.justanswer.com/oldnewenglandmarine/deacd8eb-a4ca-4db4-9bec-6e9bb71197e7_Delco_EST.pdf

    Osco? Ever wonder what happened?

If you are bored here is a court filing between Osco and one of their suppliers from years back . It specifically mentions some part of the agreement or actions taken by supplier interfering with potential sale to sierra...

    Mercruiser 4.3 Water in Oil

Agreed you want to pressure test cooling system with intake on it. Could be a leaking intake gasket at water crossover. Maybe head bolts that go into water jacket ? wondering if break in lube used during assembly might be cloudying up the oil, or did u change it already? Either way would buy...

Mercruiser 140 Points to Delco EST results in low RPM at WOT

Ok yes i used the term base instead of while in base mode set the initial to 1 deg….Still doesn’t change the fact that at one point merc used 8* initial with 36* total, and changed it to 1* initial with 23* total for some reason with engine rating at 135 hp

Mercruiser 140 Points to Delco EST results in low RPM at WOT

I recall seeing but cannot find at this moment a service bulletin on retarding the timing on some 3.0's that were blowing head gaskets, even included a sticker to cover the timing spec on the flame arrestor. I think they moved base timing back to 1 * ATDC.

Ford 302...21 foot fiberglass with cuddy

No wouldn't worry about the 14.5 to 15" diameter. typically within a prop family as pitch goes down you will see diameter increase. I think the TP 19"Pitch is 14" dia, 17"P is 14.5" dia , 15"P is 15" dia...

Fresh or salt water? Change the oil and lube a 1500 -plus hours should be no big deal. You may run into the issue with MC-1 parts becoming obsolete, drive can be replaced with R/MR/Alpha gen 1 as a bolt in but trim/trnasom housing may be an issue Typical lake use in northern climates where...

    I think the head design and ports also changed around 1990 or 1991 Quicksilver lists 3 somewhat diff part numbers for 3L heads 938 8M0115134 for 68-94 3L 938 8M0115135-1 for 3.0LX 90-97 938 8M0115135 for 98 and up

Mercruiser 140 Points to Delco EST results in low RPM at WOT

Give it a try the merc thunderbolt 4 & 5 for V6 and V8 use 8 and 10 degrees base timing and has a similar advance at idle. I would think 8 or 10 degrees would get you close enough to the factory advance it should run well at WOT. Would set it to 8 run it and see if you have detonation then...
