Newer Mercruiser Cooling System Questions . . .

That would be my take as well. When you look at the modern V engines (bot these merc and automotive) none have an intake water crossover like back in the day. Yes 10 lbs of stuf in a 5 lb box...

Newer Mercruiser Cooling System Questions . . .

What this looks to be is a bigger version of the thermostat housing that would be on top of the intake on an older chevy based V engine. I suspect there is no water crossover in your intake. This collects hot coolant out of both banks of heads and from exhaust manifolds. Thermostat is in top...

    Odd 4.3 overheating

I suspect there is something wrong with check balls . Thinking they are allowing too much water to go directly to elbows and overboard. This starves the block of incoming raw water Coming up from the drive. Suspect removing thermostat reduced restriction feeding water into block circ pump...

    Tahoe boat

Tahoe is an entry level boat. They have the same mercruiser engine drive etc as other makes that are higher end. Fit and finish level are lower. Good friends of ours have one been fine for them and held up well. would definitely sea trial it, but for a first boat at a value price probably not a...

What´s the best replacement for AQ271C (or 570) 5.7 GM engine, ideally stroker?

This is a K kit for BBC but you get the idea has springs retainers etc that should work together. Should eliminate any mismatch issues like wrong springs etc. Make sure the machinist checks the valve spring, retainer, seal clearance installed height etc. You never know what was done to the...

Alpha 1 Gen 2 lower end oil

I wonder if the small quad ring that seals the 1/4” oil passage between the two halves if the drive got dislodged and may be blocking the passage? Would think it would leak if that is the case. Other thought is how cold is it. if the lube was stored in a cold garage 90 W doesn’t flow very well.

Want to verify that I have the right prop (Mercruiser MC-1)

Q has you steered straight try the 21 it should deliver about 400 less rpm than the 17 You can peruse mercurys prop calculator but you really need current wot speed and rpm for it to be accurate. But they don’t replace real world trials on the water. Best bet is if u can find a prop shop to...
