Try putting some of the Weight further Forward To answer your Original Question, No 40 or 50 will bolt up to that Midsection, and even if it could, the Gearcase is not strong enough...

    A lot of places, take old Oil and Tranny Fluids, and Burn them in Furnaces to heat their Shops. Not really an Environmentally Friendly thing but they save money by not buying Natural Gas/Heating Oil, and also save money by not dealing with Recycling Companies. Profit before People/Environment.

    I doubt that 300hp can come out a 4.3 unless is spun well past 5000, or has a Turbo/supercharger, or has NOx . Those 4.3s in the Impala/Caprices may have been the smaller version of the Gen II LT1, a V8

    I think the Chevy Small Block is a well engineered engine(I have a 5.7 in my 18 1/2 footer), I just don't think the same of the Chopped 3/4 length version.
