    Lower unit shims

    There are no shims on the propshaft !-----The pinion gear thrust bearing under the water pump is shimmed.--I have the big $$ shim tool.--------And hurry to a shop to determine the amount of shim required.-----Failure to get this correct could result in early gear failure !

    A 15" motor on a 20" transom ???----Or sounds like the rubber hub in the prop is loose.

    Plugs look good?!

    With a motor in good condition , the plugs might need to be looked at once a season.-----If you have to pull plugs 3 times a day you need to look for / repair issues with the motor !!!

    Old Evinrude question, Can anyone help?

    Used to waterski about 2 nights a week and on weekends in the late 60's .----Brother had a little 14' runabout with a 1965 40 Evinrude.----$2,50 for a tank of gas.-----Lot of fun on a budget.-----Nobody has simple boats like that anymore.----All gone big $$$ high tech today.

    A lot of this stuff is on the shelf because folks buy it.-----Not every consumer knows how engines work,----How parts work.----Where parts are in an engine.-----No different the medicines / potions / treatments for the human body.----Folks are desperate and hope for a cure !!

    Does fuel come out of the primer hoses when motor is cranking?

    Yes there are timing marks.-----Point the timing light at the 2 vertical lines on the magneto plate.----And magically it always fires between those 2 vertical lines.

    Well----As far as I know the factory kit is COMPLETE and very complete,and has everything you need.--I have one on the shelf.------But good luck with your motor.----Time to listen !

    That fitting need to be thrown away.-----I am assuming you just bought this 1993 motor.-----Get the water pump kit 0432955 and follow instructions.----Service bulletin came out in 1994 to move that fitting.----Obviously you did not install a water pressure gauge !!-----All simple to me.

    The one side goes to a water pressure gauge.----Likely it did not come with the motor.----Install a 90 degree elbow.---Or post the model # / pictures of your motor.-----On some models that fitting should be moved to the top of the block !

    Yes it might work.------But do tell what your motor is doing / not doing ?-----Why do you feel that the entire ignition needs to be replaced?----What trouble shooting / testing have you done?
