    Leaking carb

Yep I’m replacing my accel pump with an improved version from Cliffs High Performance Quadrajets this week. I know the one that’s in there has been a long time and just started seeping a bit last season.

99 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL Heating Issue

It’s normal that the big hose will be hotter that the other 3 and in fact the two hoses feeding the manifolds will be cool until the thermostat opens allows hot water to leave the block. Then they should warm up although not as hot as the big hose gets. To verify temps use an IR temp gun take a...

Are Ocean X drivers a good choice

I have not seen any as of yet. There was someone on the Seaswirl Striper board who repowered his boat from the XDP to the Ocean X and was very happy with it, you might try looking over there for his comments.

1995 Volvo Penta 7.4GL no power

I had a similar problem some years back, it was as simple as oxidation on the ignition circuit fuse. Did not find it till I checked the switch, wires etc. The fuse had continuity but current could not flow because of oxidation.

OMC King Cobra won't engage forward gear, but reverse works good

Yep I would never advise someone to buy one now, but if you have one, the dog clutch models, with the conventional ignition and carburerator are the easiest to deal with. What the OP has, is much more rare, the pure OMC Cobra cone clutch, it is really a shame that the company was so mismanaged...

Mercruiser 4.3 swap into a Volvo pentagon 4.3 place

The engines up to when Merc started casting their own (4.5 Liter V6) are the same. You’d have to remove all the Merc add -ons and replace em with the V/P ones from your original engine.

1993 MerCruiser 4.3L V6 RAN OUT OF OIL

Interesting and thanks for the follow up. The front & rear of those manifolds are sealed with a bead of RTV and don’t usually leak but I guess anything is possible.... In fact when I removed mine to replace the heads it was REALLY hard to get off...

OMC King Cobra won't engage forward gear, but reverse works good

What the OP has and the dog clutch Cobra system are totally different. I was able to properly set up my Cobra approx 8 years ago and got it shifting perfect. With the OMC tools, it took me approx 3 hrs including pulling the drive, setting the shift rod height, adjusting the transom shift cable...

1999 Volvo penta 4.3 gl starter issue

I had marine terminals crimped onto the cables, and then bolted on marine quality battery clamps. These have a large contact area and can be replaced easily when they start to get corroded. I use locking nuts instead of the wing nuts shown in the pic. Or you can use a locking nut to attach the...

1999 Volvo penta 4.3 gl starter issue

Get some Ancor Marine cables, they will last the life of the boat. The ones I put in 15 years ago are still good. The ones the boat came with were crap automotive quality cables. And just say not to wing nuts on battery terminals!

Looks like you had leaky exhaust manifolds, does the engine spin over?

    Leaking carb

I've had mine leak 2x over the years, I get about 6 years between rebuilds. The better kits like Cliff's might get you more time. If you've never taken apart a Q-jet there are a few tricks, namely with the accel linkage, & the choke linkage. You also have to be careful with the metering rods...
