    Rust / stain marks on the hub and marks under the flex plate appear very distinct.----Should be able to use them.----Look on E-bay for the correct puller.

    I find at least 2 filters on these.-------I would look into the vapor separator.----Clean the tank and check float and float valve in there.-----Check IAC valve.

    A shop would pull the whole works off with the correct puller.---Uses the threads inside the hub.-----No chance of getting anything lined up wrong that way.-----Have you used the stain / rust marks to get the flexplate back in the original position ?

    Water pump impeller replaced ?-----What did the old plugs look like ?-----Oil level OK ? Replaced fuel filters ( 3 of them I think ) on this motor.-----Valve clearance checked ?----Did you hit something with the motor?

    If it has VRO in service it might not be a good idea to keep it running with the manual fuel pump. ----

    I clearly indicated that the key controls the timing.----It might run if flywheel is just slightly out of position.----And no you cannot find the sheared key with a timing light either.

    There are no metric threads on a 72 motor.----Sparkplugs excepted.

    Look into issues with water diverters.----There are 3 on each side.----They guide water around for proper cooling.-----If 1 is out of position it can block water flow.

    I think those had a stator and flywheel to generate voltage to charge the battery.-----Many of those 470's had a belt driven alternator kit installed.

    Just looked at some similar lower cowlings.----Plenty of places for air to get in.-----What is the motor doing / not doing that leads you to believe there is an air restriction ???

    Water in the fuel ?-----Oil injection tested and working properly ?----Start with a compression test.----Post the numbers.-----Then do a spark check as it sounds like it is running on 3 of 4 cylinders.-----
