    Lower unit stripped drain plug

    Helicoil is one option.-----I would make a new plug with a hammer and chisel.------Hint---Buy a 10 mm bolt.----File the head round.----Use hacksaw and fine file to put a slot in it.

    A good BRP dealer would have the filter in stock.-----NGK sparkplugs should be easy to find as well.-----Anodes are listed as available as well.

    Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" or more on both leads , yes or no ?----Checked the flywheel key.-----Water in fuel.-----Have you cleaned the carburetor ?----Orange / blue stripe on the top coil ?

    Should be the same as Suzuki.-----What parts are needed ?-----Yes the availability of spare parts from the " new age " corporations can be a problem.----I just ordered 2 crankshafts to fit 1961 model 5.5 HP Evinrude / Johnson.----No problem.

    Grandson ( at 11 years old ) bought his first motor for $20 , a 1959 Evinrude 5.5 HP----I did not learn anything taking it apart , but he did.-----Worth every penny and more.

    Inside the cable .----It is the part that moves.----I can not see your motor.----Does throttle arm on the side of engine block move when you operate the control ?----Does timer base under the flywheel rotate ??

    Controls ( red plug ) can be found for about $100 in my area.-----Go for it , as it might be an excellent motor.------You will learn a lot for little money on this project.-----You can check every thing without the control box hooked up.
