A broken switch.----The arm breaks off.----Or if you have the Evinrude control box it could be as simple as the red wire fallen off.----Sorry----I can not see , hear or feel your motor !
It needs to turn.----It will shift when turning the flywheel with a 1-5/16" socket.----Sorry----I have a bunch of these motor for parts.---But I have no idea what you know about these simple motors.
Split the control box.-----Perhaps the big $$$ switch is broken.----You are aware that motor has to turn to develop oil pressure for shifting.----Electric shift is wonderful and reliable.
Don't get your hopes up !!----Don't spend any beer tokens until you have this apart !!!!----And #6 is certainly not attached to the driveshaft.-----Stop guessing !
# 6 should just pry out with a couple of hefty screwdrivers.-----Pinion gear has to be removed first.----Shift mechanism must be removed before propshaft can come out.
Those folks are everywhere these days.-----I now pull over to let impatient drivers go by on my drive into town.----More folks passing going up hill as well.----And no I am not driving that slow myself.
It plugs into a wire that goes to the motor wiring.----Should be easy to figure out if read all the posts in this thread.-----You must be kidding if you are willing to buy new parts for that kind of money.
