    We do not know if a " low compression " kit was installed.------But these motors have a history of broken rings.----Post your compression values.

    The Johnson / Evinrude primer will make hard starting a thing of the past.----Time to take starter apart as well.----Slow cranking is also an issue on these wonderful motors.

    Well----Electronic ignition was first used on the 77 models.------The decals clearly indicate a 77 model !

    With electronic ignition it is a 77 , 78 , or 79.----But correct , the decals say 77.

    Install an electric primer valve as found on Johnson / Evinrude motors from 1980 to 2005.----Simple and reliable.----Squirts fuel into the motor like you are doing now.----Does it at the push of a button.-----Lots of good used ones available.

    Not a 150.----Could be a GT 175 from late 1980's or an earlier 235 HP based on the " bubble exhaust " cover.

    The structure under the floor is likely rotten too.-----Do a complete evaluation of boat / motor before spending any more beer tokens.

    My wildest guess is a 1994 model.----But a dealer would insist on the serial # to get you the correct parts first time.----Online parts places will ship what you ordered.---Right or wrong parts.

    Fix it videos

    Saw the same the same feller apply plenty of gasket sealer on the intake gaskets.-----He likely blocked off the oil recirculation channel.---I doubt he even knew the channel was there.------If a little bit of sealer is good , then lots must be better.----What a joke !!!
