    Actually I think the gear is a ---" sintered " ---material and hard to weld that stuff..----I believe the OP now has enough ideas to repair this simple part.

    There are some very entertaining motor experts on google / u-tube.-----One guy was driving dowels out of a Johnson V-4 block in the wrong direction.----Then in another video he repeated the mistake on a V-6.------But in general it gives you the confidence to " have a go at it "

    Post pictures of the damage.-----With a V-6 it is likely the 800 lower gearcase.-----Similar to the V-6 outboards.

    Make it more robust then when it left the factory.-----Perhaps a piece of 3/8 stainless rod or tube.-----If using the tube then cut and fit pieces into it.----Perhaps 5/16" bolt in either end.-----I am just pulling sizes at random but you get the idea.-----No way would I pay to get that...

    Big $$$ item.----I had better not throw any more of them out.----Your location ?-----I would make a replacement myself !---Your local machine shop could make that part.------You could get it welded I suppose.----So many options.

    Post a picture of the cylinder head of your motor.---Close up.-----Is there a location for a sensor switch ?----Should be easy to spot on a 1985 model.

    The start switch and neutral switch are the same $$$$ part.-----You could switch them.-----Or simply bend adjust the bracket that mounts the neutral switch.----Easy I think.

    There are ways to repair stuff.-----Picture helps to determine.----Do you have a part # of this ---" tiller bar " ?-----I can not recall any part called a " tiller bar " on this motor !

    Do you know what was done for the " rebuild "-----Was it new rings on old pistons.----Bored out with new O/S pistons ?------I would be removing the 4 bypass covers to inspect pistons and rings.

    Model # of your motor?---Why did you not install the correct impeller.-----A new impeller every 5 years is the way to go.----Some electric start models did have a warning horn.

    I believe that is correct.---One hose from earlier crankcase ventilation was fitted there.

    Find a donor boat with V-8 Mercruiser.-------That would have everything needed for the installation.----Often available for $1000 or less.

    2012 15 HP Honda Outboard cutting out when giving it throttle.

    Compression seems low for a 4 stroke.-----Open low speed mixture screw 1/8 turns at a time and see if bogging goes away.

    Landeverde----Perhaps test run with another hose and tank.----Fuel pumps a driven by crankcase PRESSURE pulses.-----So see if there is an issue there.

    There is no way that I would spend money for a new fuel pump.----They are easy to inspect and repair.----Have you checked water pump ?-----Motor going into the ---S.L.O.W. -----mode due to over heating ?
