    Check height of transom.----Perhaps motor is mounted too high.----Long shaft motor on a boat that needs extra long.

    Take your time and when you are done you will have the satisfaction.-----A boat perhaps better / stronger than when it was new.-----Saved the planet from it being in the landfill.

    I am not there to see anything.-----Many marinas use wooden blocks ( 12 "x12 " x 12" ) or bigger to set the boat on.------They charge you a fee for their efforts !!-----Or maybe the fee is B= bottom washing.-----Even boats need a clean bottom !

    Impeller Failure Help

    Impeller should last at least about 5 years.----Are you using factory parts ??-----Running the motor dry at any time ?----Running in a test bucket the water should be 6" above the impeller.

    Starter Clicks no Crank

    The click indicates the solenoid is moving.-----So you have a bad solenoid ( contact disc), bad connection or bad starter.----Have battery load tested.

    Check and make sure belt timing is correct.-----Make sure the plug wires are on the correct cylinder.----Posts on magneto are numbered.

    OMC offered 2 blade bronze props as well.------Early 1970's I think.-------Have a few myself , 23" pitch.

    History on the boat / motor ?----Any chance that motor has water in cylinder ?----Will motor crank with plugs out ?----Will motor turn at all.

    If a 2 stroke has been idling for some time on a hose you will see a black puddle.----Normal.----Are you test running on a hose or with boat floating in the water ?-----It does make a difference.

    What is the height of the transom.-----It should be around 20", and if it is 22 or 23 " the motor is mounted too high.

    Alternative to foam----And I would go with a patch riveted in.----Aircraft have been repaired with engineered patches , riveted in place.

    Exactly why I do not like foam under the floor of a boat.-----It hold moisture and that leads to corrosion.----There are other alternatives.

    The project I am doing ( 17' go fast ) has soaked up untold hrs.-----Just the 1/2" special foam board for the floor , carbon fiber , kevlar and the epoxy to glue it in add up to well over $600.-----But when it is done the grand kids will have smiles as wide as the boat.

    Just reread the post.----If motor is running in neutral then yes the starter will engage if you turn it to start.------My truck likely has a feature on it's computers to prevent that.----Can't lock the doors when key is in ignition.-----Diesel engine starts up when I am working in the garden...

    They might mean.-----Sitting on axles where it is now.----Tires have sunk into the mud and axles are touching the ground !----Sitting for a long time.-----Yes there are many boats that sit in marinas , known as a " cheap cottage " with like minded neighbors.----Boats do not have to roar...
