    Put a dial indicator on it and tell us how much movement.-----Tiny fractions of an inch mean nothing at 1000 miles away.

    Why compare to a car.----The car has a pressurized cooling system.----The outboard floats / runs in it's cooling system with pressure to push water through it.----Lots of water to keep it cool at full throttle and load.

    Did not go to the 3 minutes till now.-----Best find out if it is running hot.----Is there an overheat sensor in the cylinder head?-----Can you hold your hand on the exhaust cover with motor at full throttle ?

    Outboard Identification - Please Help

    In picture #4 it almost look like #1 and#3 head gasket was installed wrong.----Tab should be to the outside.----Post another picture of that cylinder head.

    Mercury 850 Thunderbolt 85 hp 2 stroke leaks gas out top carburetor before and after carburetor rebuilds.

    No---Fuel pump output is fairly low and depends on the crankcase compression pressure.----Not vacuum.-----So revisit carburetor work.-----Something is wrong with float or float valve.

    Dura-tank Essence Fuel Gauge Crack

    Clearly the reason that cheap plastic parts are disgusting.------So the gasket here is the same as the wonderful steel tanks of the 1960's.-----Easy for me to install one of the older aluminum housings.-----But you have to find used parts !

    Froggy----This is a 2 stroke motor.-----There is no oil sump to drain on this thing.------These motors can be submerged for weeks.------Then when recovered . they are exposed to air you have to get them running immediately if not sooner.---Or seek help to get the water out.-----Failure to do so...

    Fuel pumps on these motors run with a crankcase PRESSURE pulse and not so much with vacuum.----Post results of a compression test.
