Kind of a weird question on a/c for boat

It's a relatively dry 90's... certainly not the humid 90's of Miami and alike. We're about a two hour drive North of North Dakota so a climate in that area. Not too concerned about power consumption. It's about $0.08 to $0.10 a KWh here.

Kind of a weird question on a/c for boat

Hence the reasoning behind the insulated duct take off and duct work... to redirect the output into the cabin. Not too worried about the condensation. At 5000 or 6000 btu they usually evaporate the condensation... and if there is any overflow it's just going out the scupper, not into the bilge...

Kind of a weird question on a/c for boat

It's not the water temp. This is Canada.... our water never gets that warm. It's the air temp and having the cabin closed up at night while sleeping. In the height of Summer we can go into the 90's.... hot enough to make things uncomfortable for sleeping.

Purchasing 2nd Boat: Jet or Stern Drive?

To each their own. I have both an i/o and an o/b and the i/o definitely offers a vastly cleaner, more unobstructed platform to the water. Less noise as well. On the other side of the coin o/b's are so much easier to work with. I don't have to take a dive to clear weeds, less sinking risk, and...

Kind of a weird question on a/c for boat

Small portable floor model. I hate window ac's... too much noise. Something like this, just as example: There is enough standing room under the bench on the upper deck to get one of these portable units in. Just have to add an insulated duct take-off and a bit of pipe work to duct it down...

Kind of a weird question on a/c for boat

It's not too far. The dock is maybe 60 yards from the cottage. We already have 240volts @ 20 amps at the dock to run the cottage water supply pump and other accessories (we pull our water for the cottage from the river). Not a lot of voltage drop. Up until now I have just biggy-backed off of...

Kind of a weird question on a/c for boat

bayliner ciera 2755 I have to put (shore) a/c on my boat. I don't need the a/c while running.... just while parked at the dock. We use the boat not just for day trips on the water but for extra sleeping quarters at the cottage for the extended family, but it's hot in there during the height of...

Inverter with shore power - Question ???

Ahhh... okay, I got it. Smart idea then.

Inverter with shore power - Question ???

Cool project and that would certainly work.... but sorry man.... gotta ask... Are you expecting some form of major savings out of this or is it January and you're just bored :) That certainly won't supply enough power by itself when you are in the water... unless of course you shut the boat...

    Remote Controlled Blower

It's doable. Remote control modules and remotes are cheap on ebay. I would mount some kind of exterior light as well... maybe even turn the nav lights on with the remote blower... something to give you feed-back from a distance that the blower has been activated.

Air don't freeze... RV antifreeze DOES!

Yeah, I'm just North of you in Manitoba. Just got up to the cabin to check my place out too. I was going to shovel the snow off and have a peek inside, but I guess laziness got the best of me. No antifreeze in mine anyway... just air

Inverter with shore power - Question ???

100 watts isn't much and would be okay if you are only using it to charge, but one assumes you will have at least an auto bilge pump that will suck power when no one is around? Do you not have a 24/7 shore power supply available?

Air don't freeze... RV antifreeze DOES!

Not all plumbing systems are the same. Whatever goes into my drain eventually ends up in my holding tank. I'm pretty sure if the holding tank vacuum guy knew he was pumping kerosene.... he wouldn't.

    Submersible trailer lights

I have the factory LED's on my '17 JKRubicon. Incredibly sharp cut off and bright like h*ell. They are not heated though which presents some icing issues if you live in an area with lots of wet sticky snow.

Air don't freeze... RV antifreeze DOES!

The plumber's (or RV) antifreeze... yes, hence my reasoning for never using it in a motor. The real stuff you use in a vehicle doesn't really expand.... or maybe it does, but the way it freezes can't harm a motor.... even if it does expand. It kind of flakes as it freezes. You can take a fork...

Air don't freeze... RV antifreeze DOES!

That's the big difference with antifreeze. It's not that it won't freeze. It's just that is doesn't have the kind of expansive power water does when it does freeze. Still... it's better to use air if you can. I'm in Manitoba and our Winters can go down to between -40 and -50 (even -63 once)...

Air don't freeze... RV antifreeze DOES!

Don't know why people use antifreeze when air is 100% free and much less messy.

    Boat slow after cleaning

I seriously doubt it's a 'water-in-the-boat' issue. You would have to have a LOT of water slopping around to prevent a 90 horse outboard from planing the boat. That amount of water would be clearly noticeable.

    what is make and model?

What do you feel is the advantage to a 4 stroke outboard in the performance area? I am not wanting to start debate on here, but I just dont see it. I am open to opinions. Buying a new lawn mower... outboard, etc.... Get the 4 stroke. The emissions and noise laws are slowly tightening the...

    what is make and model?

You should be okay with a 65. I wouldn't do anything more than that though. When I was younger, I had a 14 footer with closed bow and remote steer similar to what you have, and an evinrude 70 on it. The boat worked fine. The top end was a bit scary and hairy though on the windy days. Never had a...
