    Steering friction lever

    1993 25hp mercury electric start. I moved the steering friction lever all the way to the rh side with respect to the boat and I'm not getting a real tight steering. Is there something there that could be worn out?

    How critical is the nozzle well and the small hose as far as a good running motor is concerned? I noticed the well has a small crack at the embedded brass tube and may leak. I may repair using jb weld. Also how tight does that little hose need to be ?

    removing a "primer" from a johnson 6hp?

    I would like to remove the "primer system" from my 6hp j6rcud Johnson 1987. Do I remove the pull knob first, then unscrew the forward nut, remove the hoses and then will it come off? I'm not certain. Any ideas?

    four stroke oil for mercury 115 hp

    Can I use a automotive four stroke oil for my 2005 115 hp mercury four stroke? Say castrol 10w30? What about gear lube? Do I have to use mercury specific gear lube or can I use a certain weight auto rear end lube?

    Voltage gage reads lower than battery

    2005 nitro 189 gages. Installed a new voltage gage because the other one did not work, now I have 12.3 volts at the battery and maybe 10 volts at the gage. What could be dropping the voltage at the gage?

    Lowrance x102 broken

    Comes on and shows 0.0 ft (all the time) and when I go to turn it off (holding the menu button down), it does not shut down. Really not worth sending out to have repaired so, if I cracked it open could I fix it? Maybe it's an internal fuse or burned wire???? What do you think? It's a 2005.

    I own a couple of small motors and by far the little 4.5 is the smoothest, quiet and fastest to start of all of them. Also seems to be very easy to maintain. What do you think?
