Yamaha 4stroke stalls at full throttle

I'm surprised the dealer wasn't able to replicate the issue, did they hook up their own fuel line and tank?

Yamaha 4stroke stalls at full throttle

It's running lean. If it's not related to your fuel tank as you said then next I'd try cleaning the fuel filter and checking your fuel pump pressure. After that if be thinking fuel restriction in the carburetor. You could also verify your idle mix is set correctly but i have a feeling you'll be...

Can worn points cause this? Video included

Thanks everyone for your responses, had the boat out today after changing the points and condenser and it ran very well once it warmed up. I had some issue getting it started at first.. with fast idle it was idling very slowly until it ran for a minute and gradually got up to speed. Once warmed...

Can worn points cause this? Video included

Replaced the points and condenser, new points didn't come with a lube wick not was there one in the Mallory housing. Gapped the points but a feeler gauge but ended up adjusting it after that to get dwell correct. Did not see any rust under the points plate. Spark is much stronger now, bright...

    Weak spark

Just had this same symptoms on my Silverado, it stalled on me. I could restart it a few times but it would stall at shorter and shorter intervals til finally it refused to start. I found a broken ground connection from the negative terminal of the battery to the engine block. If you've got weak...

Mercruiser Alpha One Gen II not pumping water

I just wanted to report back, I got a new water pump guide tube and when I dropped the lower to inspect the old one it was bent even worse than it was previously. I believe it wasn't lined up properly and I had positioned the lower unit close to the upper as I could and then tightened the bolts...

Can worn points cause this? Video included

I'll look for the lube wick, I know the replacement points I ordered for the Mallory comes with one. I'll be sure to oil it and inspect the weights as well. I really appreciate the tips. As far as a surge, I watch the video a little differently after reading dodges post and I can see that too...

Can worn points cause this? Video included

I really appreciate all these tips. I've never replaced points before. I'm on a parts website for my engine and see I can order CDI or seirra replacements, am I better off just going to NAPA with the part numbers? Are points and condensers universal or will they need to match the part numbers...

    78 85 hp johnson javelin

Struggling with this ..you're identifying a miss, which would be ignition circuit and you've replaced the entire ignition system with no change. Id go through the wiring and grounds and clean the connections. Try starting it at night when it's dark out with your remote starter and look around...

    1976 200hp Johnson Power on 2 Cylinders

Something is wrong with the information youve given. If it's got fuel, spark and compression it'd fire. How are you checking spark? I'd recommend measuring spark strength with an adjustable tester. If spark is good then I suspect the carbs even though they've been rebuilt.

Mercruiser Alpha One Gen II not pumping water

First time working on this outdrive.. it's a friend's boat.. everything was working normal, then one day boat overheats. I come over and replace the impeller and replace gaskets and orings, had the service manual at my side and pretty sure I did most everything correctly, one thing I skimped...

    5.0GL Possible Carb issue

I'd start by inspecting throttle plate in carb with engine off. Have someone move the throttle lever slowly to WOT and observe the throttle plate as it opens. Is it full open with throttle lever at WOT

Thanks guys, I'll look into building one down the road. Makes sense to do that and have a chance at inspecting other components

Tip for reinstalling outdrive lower solo

TLDR: Use a zip tie I position the lower unit under the upper housing, crouch low and raise it into position while wiggling slightly port and starboard. Once I got it within a couple inches of the upper housing, I supported most the weight with my thigh (crouch low) and with one hand holding...
