    I left a gap when I did mine, partly to aid in drying and partly because it make the process much easier than trying to align the edges of the carpet. I agree that monel staples are the way to go. Glue if overkill and will just make it more difficult to replace the carpet if you need to.

    Personally, I wouldn't consider rebuilding a boat and not replacing foam. That stuff could literally save your life (and the lives of any guests) should things go south. I never understand when people question the need for flotation foam when rebuilding.

    Demolition and grinding are really tiring. Once you get all the garbage cleaned out and all the bad stuff ground away, it starts to get a lot more fun.

    I agree. It makes me very uncomfortable to see so much sports gambling. There have been problems in the past with influencing the outcome of sporting events and and I can't believe the prominence of gambling these days won't eventually cause that to happen again.

    I used both a 4.5" grinder and a full sized grinder. The full sized grinder was just too heavy for prolonged use, especially when contorting to reach all the corners of the transom. The 4.5" grinder with a 60 grit wheel did the trick. I went through two of them... I think at the time they were...

    Bunk Boards or Guide Poles?

    The guidepoles are mostly helpful for locating the end of the trailer. If your boat gets blown into them, they will bend. If you're looking for something to help guide your boat onto the trailer in windy or swift current conditions, I'd go with side guides.

    Smart tabs.

    Smart Tabs cured porpoising and chine-walking on my boat. They also helped quite a bit with bow rise on holeshot and they allow me to stay on plane at speeds 3-5 mph slower. True trim rabs would doubtess give you more control and adjustability, but SmartTabs might help in your situation.

    Ski lockers are great for storing fenders, an oar, etc. Be a shame to lose it... as others have said, storage on a boat is precious space.
