    Portable tank vent ? Connector?

Idles and revs fine with high idle lever with muffs. Won’t go past 1/4 throttle under way.

    Portable tank vent ? Connector?

Apparently the fuel pumps are in the carbs. so...yes?

    Portable tank vent ? Connector?

Fuel flow seemed good when I forgot to depressurize before pulling the carb. hose and it flowed heavily until I disconnected from the tank. I bought carb. kits. They looked very clean inside so I only replaced the floats, float needles, diaphragms, and gaskets. Jets were clean. I shot carb...

    Classic 50 fuel pump?

A959445 Thanks. I guess they must be in the carbs. on this one. Not sure what else to try except checking for exhaust blockage.

    Classic 50 fuel pump?

Trying to figure out why this engine won’t rev. I suspect the fuel pump. But I don’t see one. Do these not have one or is it somehow located in the block under where the quick fuel connector comes into the lower cowl?

    Portable tank vent ? Connector?

It’s a Classic 50 4 cyl. 2 carb. New to me. Won’t rev past 1/4 throttle. New plugs. New carb floats and needles. New diaphragms. 130 lbs. compression in the 3 cylinders I could test. Starts, idles, and revs well with high idle but not in gear with main throttle.

    Portable tank vent ? Connector?

Thanks for confirming the tank cap. I confirmed that mine does depress the pins and does vent. I just had it in the water again. I loosened the cap just to rule that out. Still bogs/dies above 1/4 throttle. I had the carbs. apart again last night and didn’t find anything wrong. The floats were...

    Portable tank vent ? Connector?

Bottom line...when I twist the tank cap there is usually pressure or vacuum released. Would this be the cause of the engine to wanting to die above 1/4 throttle? Should I replace the tank's quick connector or tear the carbs. down again or replace the fuel pump next?

    Portable tank vent ? Connector?

I just noticed that the 2 small pins above the right pin release pressure from the tank when I press them in. I guess maybe they aren't getting pushed in enough by the connector?

    Portable tank vent ? Connector?

Are you saying that the cap is wrong for the tank?

    Portable tank vent ? Connector?

No vent that I can tell. The cap is just like a car's radiator.

    Portable tank vent ? Connector?

I have a metal 5 gal. tank that has a cap like a car's radiator and a quick connect fitting. When I have loosened the cap there can be a lot of pressure (or vacuum?) released. Is that normal? How are these tanks supposed to vent? Is it through the quick connect fitting? I had cleaned the carbs...

Classic 50 not returning to idle

Thank you. That barrel adjustment makes good sense. Hadn’t thought of that as I assumed it was set prior to me getting it. I could do compression checks easily on 3 cylinders but not sure I can get to the 4th so I’ve been avoiding that test. I’ll give it a shot.

Classic 50 not returning to idle

I'm chipping away at trying to get this old girl running right. When I lift the high idle lever and then put it back down the throttle pivot mechanism doesn't return to low idle. I can push it back that 1/4" or so with my hand with no trouble at the engine. The pivot mechanism all seems to be...

    Classic 50 levers/controls.

Had stiff remote controls. Lubed the cables. Still stiff. Seems to be at the engine. Advice for next step, please? (see video) Video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cSrP4DiRaVrc5xhPmzd0qWxIUOxPlVy-/view?usp=sharing

    Starter/solenoid help

Yup. Got the bulb lit after the safety switch when I cranked the key. I didn't see anything mechanical between there and the solenoid so I figured it must be the wire so I ran a new wire and all is good with that. Now to working on the remote cables. ;-(
