    Problems AGAIN!!!

Thank you. I am about 25 miles Northeast of Detroit, Michigan. A town named Macomb, Twp. zip code 48044. I have been trying to find an older OMC control box on Craigs list and our local trading/selling site here, but there are no working OMC controls around. If someone on this site has one...

    Problems AGAIN!!!

Thanks again guys. I best leave it to an outboard mechanic. The guy that changed my throttle & gear shift cables works strictly on older Johnson & Evinrude motors. I am seriously thinking about replacing the entire control box, but I cannot find a good used one anywhere I looked. I saw some...

    Problems AGAIN!!!

Hey guys, The lst time I posted was because my motor quit and I had to be towed in, however, I found it was a plugged gas cap (not venting) and that problem has been taken care of. now a different problem I have a 35 H.P. 1983 Johnson with a remote box for the controls at the side wall...

Sorry, Should not have posted this. I was out of line.

    Fuel filter

Interesting, but really has nothing to do with the subject matter of this thread, does it? Should have started your own thread somewhere to posting this info.

    Fuel filter

Yes, my fuel pump has a very fine screen filter built right into the pump housing. I added the glass inline filter just so I can observe the gas flowing thru it for my own personal, visual, satisfaction I suppose, and see if the filter is actually catching any contaminants, but it probably will...

    Fuel filter

I will probably leave it before the ball then if it's normal. I know if I put it on the discharge side of the ball. it would probably stay filled then as the ball has a check valve in it.

    Fuel filter

Thanks dingbat. I currently have it on the suction side of the primer ball (between the ball and fuel tank, down stream). I am going to move it to above the ball, as you suggest I do, which will put the filter between the ball & the motor, (upstream from the ball). However, after running it...

    Fuel filter

One more question concerning my fuel line on my 35 H.P. Johnson motor. I have a 6 gallon portable tank, single hose line. I just had a problem with the gas cap (no vacuum) that you guys helped me solve, and I now added an in-line fuel filter (NOT a water separator, but just a clear glass...

    Fuel line problem

Thanks. The filter I used for my motor is an inline 10 micron filter made by Seachoice. I could not find a flow rate of this filter, but I do not think it is small enough to restrict the demand of my 35 H.P. Johnson outboard (unless it is clogged). It is made of clear glass so I can see...

    Fuel line problem

Thanks. I had a water separator on my old boat that I got rid of. Worked great, especially after I got a lot of water in my gas tank when I had the filler cap off one time in error when I washed the boat! On this little boat that I bought, I just added a small inline clear filter that will...

    Fuel line problem

Thanks for your input, however, as I sated in post #4, I did add in inline filter to the fuel line already for the reasons that you mentioned.

    Fuel line problem

Thanks for the suggestion of what to look out for, however, I had a very close, good view of the inside of the empty tank when we filtered the gas into a separate gas tank. The gas tank I have on the boat is red plastic, and I can see very well into it thru the filler hole when it was empty...

    Fuel line problem

Thanks to both of you guys. I am all set now I believe. I have replaced the fuel line coming out of the tank, checked the pickup tube and filter at the end of it (like new), & the fitting on the tank (like new), filtered the fuel into another tank (it was clean, nothing in it except 2 cycle...

    Fuel line problem

I have a 1983 35 H.P. Johnson outboard motor. Today was the first time I used it on my aluminum 14 boat. It started great, ran perfect and I was getting a good speed at about 3/4 throttle. It was running perfect and all of a sudden the motor just quit!! The primer ball was sucked 100%...

    1983 Johnson 35 H.P.

I picked up some new cables today. They are 12 footers & that's what I need rounded up to give me a nice clean loop. It is the one lever type control box. No trim switch involved. I took one apart years ago and I might just try it again. I just am not sure of the motor end as I do not want to...

    1983 Johnson 35 H.P.

Yes, There is a HUGE loop in the cables and they are in the way right now actually. I think they are probably about a 16 or even 18 feet long. I don't know why the previous owner used cables this long but I got some 12 footers today which will be the right size. EDIT: There WAS a huge loop...

    1983 Johnson 35 H.P.

Hello again, I am going to get the control cables for my remote box to the motor replaced. I have a side console with remote throttle and gear cables, side wall mounted control box. I currently have very long (too long) cables on the boat that I purchased, and I am going to pick up a new...

    1991 Johnson

I originally inquired about a problem with my starter not engaging in post #1. Next I found out that I do not have a 1991 motor but I have a 1983 motor. Thanks for all that helped me out on both counts. My starter is working great on a new battery (and I even bought a second new one as a spare...
