    This timing is killing me, should be this hard

    Okay got the shunt, got the advance timing light. I warm up the engine, put in the shunt and leave the 12 volts off. Start engine and immediately dies and will not start. I'm new to this whole shunt thing so what in the world am i doing wrong? Timing should be easy! Its a 2000 5.7 GSi PEFS

    I was planning to replace the two fuel lines on my 5.7 GSi. I can only seem to locate one and the other is discontinued. What is everyone doing for replacements? I am just doing it as preventative. at almost 20 years old i think it may be wise. Gas leaks would not be good!

    I am struggling to find a way to hook up a diagnostic Tachometer. I need to hook to the negative of the coil but the conectors don't allow that. Is there a pigtail or something that you use> I want to set the initial timing and want to make sure the RPM's are accurate.

    Here is how i understand it. The Spanner nut retaining ring is tightened and you rotate the drive shaft. The retainer nut can change the lash and contact pattern of the gears Don't think it has anything to do with the shims at this point. .

    Tilt/trim cylinder pivot pin

    So the pivot pin holding the tilt cylinders was so corroded on there that I had to cut it to get it off. I am having trouble finding a replacement. I thought that would be easy. Anyone know who would have one? or have a part number?
