    Exhaust Riser?

Using a not so "large bastard file". Not through the putting/pitting yet. The starboard side was much worse.

    Exhaust Riser?

I pulled the risers and manifolds. As I suspected, I found water in part of the port manifold. The engine mounting surfaces look fine. The riser mating surfaces don't look too bad. I will try cleaning them up and getting new gaskets. See attached pics, these are the port side, starboard is...

    Exhaust Riser?

The engine quits a few seconds after starting.

    Exhaust Riser?

Yup. Did that when I first bought the boat. I saw water leaking between the riser and the manifold. The manifolds were practically welded to the block had to hit them fairly hard to get them off. To clarify, I did have it running, not for long, w/o water. Worked fine. Only ran into a...

    Exhaust Riser?

Ok, will do, thanks. Probably going to need new gaskets for the engine block, I would imagine.

    Exhaust Riser?

I think I need a new exhaust manifold and risers. Is there a way to check this? I haven't run my engine in 5+ years. The risers are 13+ years old. I started the engine and it ran, not with water. I then did maintenance on it, new water pumps, refreshed electrical connections, and other...

    Updated Manual Link?

Good idea. Thanks. I just found the problem. I used the KIS method, "Check all connections" and re-did ground connections. Lots of corrosion. Found another set of ground connected wires, nut was loose.

    Updated Manual Link?

Looking for OEM Service Manuals for my Volvo Penta Engine. Link is broken / empty. https://boatinfo.no/lib/library.html Is there a new place where the manuals are, or were they permanently removed? After several years of non-use, it won't initialize, ie, start the pumps to prime the fuel...

Sorry, not finding this and not sure why I am looking.

    Buying an alignment tool?

Is there anything special I need to know about buying an alignment tool? How specific to an engine are they? I see these on eBay and they claim the tool works with a variety of engines, is that correct? Or should I buy from a specific seller? I have a 1994 Volvo Penta 5.0 Fi PMDA V8 w/an SX-X...

    Reattach cap to hull

No. I checked that. It seems the stern has gone out of sorts over time. Also, where the stern does bow out and contacts the cap, I have the screws inserted into the original holes, so I know it is correctly lined up.

    Reattach cap to hull

I don't remember. The stern is a little bowed out, but the lip of the cap is straight. It fits properly up front. I am unable to adjust the position of the cap and get all seams tight. So I am left to deal with this gap.

    Reattach cap to hull

As requested, here is a wide shot. Camera is on the ground, looking up at the underside of the boat.

    Reattach cap to hull

I have a rather large gap between the hull transom and the cap. I am wondering how to fill this gap? The picture below shows the gap. The view is looking from the ground upwards to the sky at the back end / corner of the boat.

    Reattach cap to hull

Well, that's two votes for silicone and that is how my cap was attached. I was just thinking there might be something better. Looking at Sika 291

    Reattach cap to hull

There seems to be some issues w/the 3M 4000 UV. I have some concern about this product, lots of people who successfully use the product, but also too many negative reviews after searching and some product failure issues: https://www.practical-sailor.com/blog/ps-seeking-reports-of-3m-4000-uv-failure

    Reattach cap to hull

What do people use when re-attaching the cap to the hull? 3M 4200? This is for a 23' 1994 bow rider. There is a 3/4" plywood strip screwed to the bottom half of the hull, see picture. Then the cap was screwed to the hull/plywood strip combo. Then there is the rubber bumper line that was screwed...

    Fuel Tank - Replace?

Should I replace my fuel tank now that I am doing a resto? It is a 1994 Inca Cross Linked Poly tank. I pressure tested and checked for cracks, all ok. I am now about to put the floor over it, and am hesitating. Thoughts? Pic is from the when I was tearing everything out.

    Fuel Line handling?

Whenever I get on one of these DIY type forums, I inevitably see someone write "Hire a professional". Well, for me it usually is the "Professional's" work that I am fixing.
