    Immediate delamination

Nope, no way, clean as can be. Bought a roll of it, cut it off, layered it on!

    Immediate delamination

Interesting. No. The area in question is also the bilge. I ground out the gelcoat, all was original / factory work. I made some peanut butter to gap fill between the hull and the new transom. That has set up properly.

    Immediate delamination

That's what I thought, thanks for confirmation. Hey no worries, so was I, which is why I posted here. Right, so I used epoxy in other places and with the stringers , not pictured, and transom, and have had great results. I am almost out of poly, 1/2 gallon left, and the fumes have been...

    Immediate delamination

I had already used 40 grit to remove the gelcoat, but it had been a while since I was able to work on it, and went over it real quick w/60.

    Immediate delamination

There was gelcoat that I ground off, originally. Right before I went to lay the glass, I sanded with new 60 grit paper, vacuumed, then wiped w/acetone. So, I am not thinking it is something I "smeared around". That's where I thought I was at. Where the resin is soaked into the glass, it is...

    Immediate delamination

That's what I was thinking, but not sure where I messed up as a sanded and cleaned. The glassing worked fined on the new transom. Put on three layers of 1708 with the same poly, worked great, nice and hard. That's what you see in the pic, is that I have started re-grinding to remove what...

    Immediate delamination

What you are seeing is that I already pulled off the glass. It was attached to the hull, but separated too easily when I pried it. I put poly on the hull first, then laid glass on top of the wet poly, then used a roller to apply poly on the glass.

    Immediate delamination

Hey all, I am working on rebuilding my 1994 caravell interceptor, 23 ft bowrider. Yesterday I added some 1708 tabbing to my new transom (interior mounted ). I went to check it today and i was able to pry the tabbing off the hull with a flat blade. The transom bond is good. I guess I didn't...

    Boat Ramp Fail- Inconsiderate

I was down on the Patuxent River in Maryland this afternoon waiting for my turn along with three other boaters, at the ramp to haul out. This guy hauls his boat out of the water, then stops at the top of the ramp, completely blocking the ramp, gets out and walks around the boat inspecting...

    How bad is this?

I am redoing the deck on my boat. I just did the one thing I didn't want to do. Cut through the hull. I was using a cut-off wheel and misunderstood the geometery of the hull where I was trying to remove the old stringer. The cut is about a foot long, 1/8" wide (width of cut-off wheel). Can...

To Replace or Not to Replace - Fuel Tank

Finally got the tank out. Here are pics of the bottom of the tank and where it sat in the boat. There is black slimy sludge and there is a chemical smell if you put your nose up to the tank.

To Replace or Not to Replace - Fuel Tank

I am replacing the deck, stringers, etc. on my boat. Should I consider replacing the fuel tank? The tank is an Inca brand 1993 Model F03100A. The label does say CrossLink Poly. No info via Google. Once I got the dirt and pebbles out of the tank a couple of years back, I stopped having fuel...

    Rebuilding Deck, First timer

I am starting the rebuild of my deck. A few softspots and the windscreen hard to close because the deck is not supporting the console prompted me to do this work. I had always wondered why my tank was hard to fill, always having to hold the gas nozzle and hold the trigger at the slowest rate...

    Fuel Crystals

Not a Volvo issue, but didn't see a better place to post. Suggestions? Included is a picture of my fuel tank pickup line and sending unit. I cleaned this area in the spring. The fuel line and anti-siphon elbow are new. The sending unit gasket is new. A lot of crystals have formed around both...

engine hard to start when hot

The rail pressure on the fuel rail lost 2 1/2 psi over ten minutes. Holding at 30 an hour later. Ok point made, I have been browsing the online manuals. Much more info. Thanks for the resource, How I hate Flash, but that's off topic. FunTimes, I pulled this. Not sure how to test this. The...

engine hard to start when hot

Hello All, I have a 1994 5.0 FI 8 cylinder VP engine. When cold starts easily. After running for a while and engine is hot, when I try to restart, I have to give full throttle for it to turn over. When the weather is cooler, say in the fall, this is not a problem. A typical scenario is...

    Fourth Fuel Pump

Hey all, I have had repeated Low Pressure fuel pump failures. All with minimal hours, less than 20. I replaced my LP fuel pump last October. Used the boat several times, last trip was for 70 miles. Worked great. Winterized the boat, fuel stabilizer, fog engine, etc. Started the boat in the...

    Fuel Tank clog

Hey all, I have a 1994 Volvo Penta 5.0 Fi. Started it up for the first time today ( I know, a late start for the season ) and ran great for the first few minutes, then quit. Engine has been running great, I have done a lot of work, cleaned injectors, fuel line, new fuel line, about two or...

    Boat, guests, money, etiquette

Hello everybody, I have a question of how do you handle the issue of friends / guests chipping in for riding on your boat? Do you ask them to chip in ahead of time? If so, how does your does your conversation go for this topic? If you have not previously discussed money, afterwards, if they...
