    That is a looper motor I believe you need to keep the VRO. Look at OMCs premix style VRO. Or if you don't t pay the price or have the oil injection, there are cheap chineseum vro pumps available

    Get a manual specific to your motor. I believe that is an electric shift model.

    Be at what age? get fresh fuel in it and make sure the fuel lines are good.

    Before you take everything apart how about some simple diagnostics. Does it shift into reverse with the cable disconnected? Does the shift box have any broken parts? Any problems with the linkages themselves? A swelled seal would affect forward AND reverse.

    The Yamaha uses a gear drive oil injection that has been on their snowmobiles since the 70s. The Evinrude is a stronger overall runner but I think the Yamaha is a slightly better motor because of the oil injection.
