    marine formula debond

These last few days I have been removing parts that were glued on to aluminum with M5200 while the temperature I worked in was well below 32F. To my amazement. all the m5200 came off very easily without cursing, chiseling and debond. I took some of this stuff inside and as things got warmer the...

Installing a trolling motor on a 21ft CC

Personally I would go with AGM or EFB batteries. Both are lead acid ,but properly sealed ones. The Lithium ion often need a different type of charger and they are a bit problametic with the charging system on older outboards

Installing a trolling motor on a 21ft CC

It is very important to have the right weight balance in your boat. For trailering you need some serious weight on the front end to prevent serious accidents while trailering. Also, with too much weight on the rear you will have trouble with your hole shot because the front of the boat will...

Can I buy a trailer online?

That was still Fred. The good thing about going very local is that you can drive up to, sit down with him and explain exactly what your needs are. If your local guy knows his business he might suggest something that fits your needs better and help you get what best fits your needs. It always helps.

    marine formula debond

I used the debond today on some m5200 glued material and it loosened the stuff with great ease. I wonder if sub freezing temperatures make the m5200 brittle, because it was not so much that it desolved, it just came loose from one side.

Jeez! What happened to global warming

My brother and sister inlaw live in the Berkshires they are artsy fartsy flaky hippie type senior citizens. And as always ill organized for the winter. I used to go visit them in the early fall to help them split and stack the six or seven full cords they need every winter. This year I thought...

    Time for a new mattress

When my wife was still with me , we slept in a queen size bed and felt comfortable with enough room. Now I have 2 large golden retrievers who just decided that they should sleep on the bed with me. Now I will need a king size bed so there is room for me as well.

Jeez! What happened to global warming

Ha, just imagine how much colder it would be now if not for global warming.

    marine formula debond

This is some goop in a spray can. The internet claims that this is about the only thing that will loosen up M5200. Does anybody here have any experience with it and what do you think about it?

What brand of Cotton socks are still good quality ?

Probably, but you will never know, because they automatically hand them out to you without ever asking if you want them. I do suspect that the mark up is a few thousand percent and all of that is well hidden in the hospital bill in tiny print.

Redoing a Starcraft Islander transom using Coosa board.

Yes April, please come quick. I am getting older and working in sub freezing weather has never been a favorite pass time for me. It is only the beginning of December and already the temperature went down to 9 degrees last night. And I am not a Canadian like my daughter in law who wore a tshirt...

Do your feet smell so bad that you accuse the socks of being the culprits?

Replacing a transom on a 1989 Starcraft Islander.

The tedious part has started. Disconnecting all the wiring that goes to the kicker and all the wiring that goes through the transom. The kicker outboard stand is waiting in the garage, but for now, It is impossible to push it through the snow. The plan is to do about one hour of work each day...

Replacing a transom on a 1989 Starcraft Islander.

That looks impressive. Until now I always just lowered the new transom into its place and went with the holes in the aluminum frame. I don't think that it will be easy to find a thing like that. I just checked the price. Those things cost $700 + change, which is just about the entire budget that...

    1989 OMC Cobra exhaust seal

Those batwing manifolds have been doing fine since 1989, which is about 36 years. It seems that I lucked out on these ones

    1989 OMC Cobra exhaust seal

So I took the the exhaust flap out and it was defective. At first, it looked just fine. There were some small burrs on the the holding bar and I polished those out. But then, I took a closer look at the plate and found a small hole. It was big enough to allow water to penetrate under the rubber...

Replacing a transom on a 1989 Starcraft Islander.

That is just what I did on my last transom, except that the boat went from garage kept to being in a slip and with all the humidity that comes along with that I just decided that I need to redo the job so I will have no need to worry about rot

Replacing a transom on a 1989 Starcraft Islander.

This thread is sort of a continuation of a coosa discussion. I will try to make this a log of transom rebuilding So after deciding not to use coosa, the next logical choice is marine grade plywood. I considered types of pvc and polyethylene but those did not really appeal to me. The decision to...
