    Thanks guys.Its only gonna be a spare,hopefully never need to use it.I am told it came off of a Wellcraft Nova with a 390 motor.I am sure those boats never came with anything smaller than a V8.Any easy way to tell the ratio??Thanks again Charlie

    Wow!!! that many?? I had no idea.All I know is that it is from a Wellcraft Nova with a 390? motor.Old boat for sure./It has a lift ring on the top and horizontal veins /ridges in the upper by the vent hole.Charlie

    I have available to me a pre alpha drive off of a v8. I like the idea of having a spare drive .Im running twin Alpha drives 1988 Mercruiser 5.0 XL .Can this pre alpha drive work for me as a spare?? Or can the upper or lower be interchanged with my alpha ?? BTW it would be strictly for emergency...

    This engine is new to me last year.It replaced one of my 1988 5.0 LX that had a bad winter.The boatyard had some modifications to make with wiring to get everything to work.Charlie

    Thanks ,I was thinkin the same but the snap on is tight and the ring below it looks like thats where I should put the nut since it is always a little loose.Charlie

    Both filters changed yesterday.Didnt start either motor yet.Tank is aluminum and its regular gas and its from October.Too much stabil is a possibility.My idea was that one filter performed better than the other.Charlie

    This new to me 5.0 has a wire connection under the Tstat housing .The connection seems to be a push tab connector with an additional wire with loop connector under the push tab.It does not seem to be able to make a solid connection on the additional wire.I experienced erratic temp gage last...
