Keel damage - read too much - your thoughts?

We see this often. It is hard to tell from the picture if it is leaking. I suppose if you put the boat nose down on the trailer for a while it would confirm a leak (or not). But, yes, glass mat . . . or even some biaxial cloth to build up the area. Sand to the proper shape and coat with...

    My boat is being a boat . . .

Of course, the weather and sea conditions have been ideal for boating . . .

    My boat is being a boat . . .

I will say that this boat handles the ocean much better than my Formula 330. More weight and sharper 'V' hull.

    My boat is being a boat . . .

Yup, if it is not one thing it is another. I'd hate to think what it would cost (Time and Money) to have a shop take care of all the issues that come up. Not sure that I've actually had a trouble-free season with any boat . . .

    My boat is being a boat . . .

Water pressure update . . . We were out on the boat for the day. about 12 miles there and 12 miles back. On the way over the raw water psi was Port 22 psi, Stbd 15 psi (3600 RPM), engine temps were fine. On the way back the Port was 22 psi, Stbd was 11 PSI. Engine RPM 3700 . . . The Stbd...

    My boat is being a boat . . .

Our beach club just celebrated its centennial. Hasn’t changed much since the 1950’s 🤪

Probably more like these facilities were built over 70 years ago and have not changed much 😀

    My boat is being a boat . . .

Cooling System Update. . . I found what may have been the issue with the ‘radiator cap’. The spring clamp that holds the overflow tube on had wedged itself under the cap flange. . . . . . I had thought that the clamp was missing and was going to put a new one on. Then discovered the clamp...

    My boat is being a boat . . .

As for the trim sender gadget, here is my design sketch that I came up with. . . I used some C33 cables from my previous boat, but they were a bit shorter than I would like, so the placement of the 'gadgets' over the engines was not ideal. The other end of the C33 cable is attached to the trim...

    Quit My Job . . .

The second 'potential' CY338 upholstery job is somewhere in Florida. Not sure it would pan out since the distance is a challenge.

Yes, I have not gotten any Formula inquiries. The brands so far have been . . . Chris Craft, Regal, Boston Whaler, SeaDoo, and Cruisers.

Yes, Latdy seemed to be quite busy last year, turn-around time was a couple of months IIRC. So I'll have to plan accordingly :)

    My boat is being a boat . . .

As for the water pressure issue . . . I am thinking that I will: Check the sea water strainers for any signs of clogs/restrictions Swap the water pressure sensors between the engines to see if the problem moves with the sensor

They are something I whipped up. The idea would be that they should not need replacement often, but if they did (wear out) it would be straight forward replacing them.

    Quit My Job . . .

My former company let my 'second in command' go a month or so ago. He and another guy have been on the bubble since they outsourced the IT department after I left. I got him (my former 2nd in command) lined up to be the IT Director at the place where I am consulting. This should be a win-win...

    My boat is being a boat . . .

I took the boat out today to do some more experimenting with the trim (outdrives and tabs). The boat likes full 'in' trim up until about 4000 RPM, then I can trim up a pinch. It does not like much trim tab for stern lift (too much drag), but it is good I have the position indicators. The raw...

4.3 Mercruiser submerged - Perplexing problem

Hydro-lock - symptoms were similar to a bad starter. But the engine was actually hydro-locked.
