    New owner - 2003 Roamer 43

Welcome to iBoats . . . If you haven't been able to find a manual or any info online, then it may not exist. Have you reached out to Chris-Craft for any info on the fuel system? Their customer service folks are helpful. (I've worked with Carlo and Leo on their service staff) Perhaps you...

    Vintage Mercury Cooling Issue

Thx (y) I'll be headed to the boat dock this AM with some tools in hand. I'm hoping it is something simple, like Spark plug fouling or a wire fray. To get to the points/coil I believe I need to pull the flywheel IIRC.

1995 Chaparral 2550 SX Refit and Restoration

Nice write-up. I've often considered Sea Ray as the 'Chevrolet' of boats. Chappy has always been on my short list of boats, but never owned one. I did take a look at a 327 SSX when I made my recent upgrade, but the boat had raw water cooled engines w/ CAT exhaust in the ocean . . . :cautious:

No power to my radio, cabin lights or refridgerator

Yes, if the charger was connected AFTER the battery switch, the charger (when AC is available) would be putting 12+ volts to the DC circuitry. However, the switch would need to be on in order for the charger to be able to charge the batteries. It sounds like the wiring of your boat might be a...

    Vintage Mercury Cooling Issue

@racerone . . . I am thinking that the engine is running on one cylinder. Being a 1969 it is a points ignition system. Wondering how involved it would be to switch to the coils?

    My boat is being a boat . . .

It's launched . . . . . We departed for the ramp @ 10:45 am . . . There was somebody launching a small center console, but not much of a wait. The guy tied up his boat to the dock and drove his trailer home. So, we backed down the ramp, and this size of a boat tends to draw a crowd of...

No power to my radio, cabin lights or refridgerator

Radio, cabin lights, navigation lights, etc. all run on DC. Your Shore power should have a charger that can replenish the batteries while on shore power. It looks like you have a refrigerator, range, cabin outlets that are AC powered. Often when a refrigerator has either AC or DC powered...

No power to my radio, cabin lights or refridgerator

You posted the instrument panel. Is there an electrical panel in the cabin?

No power to my radio, cabin lights or refridgerator

Post some pictures of your electrical panel (both the AC and the DC panels), as that will help with further responses.

Who here would buy a boat with 1400hours on a 454 mpi?

I do salt water . . . closed cooling is a must IMO. Orca should have a full closed cooling kit for that engine. Put one on BEFORE the boat sees the salt. Flush the engine with oxalic acid as a prep to the closed cooling installation. If the compression checks out OK, then get your best price...

1995 Chaparral 2550 SX Refit and Restoration

BTW - in you opinion, which boat was better built? The Searay 27 or the Chappy 25?

    My boat is being a boat . . .

All seriousness aside . . . The boat is ready and waiting. I even fired up the engines, checked the trailer lights. Will get the box of donuts in the AM so they are fresh. . . Fingers cross for uneventful launch . . .

    My boat is being a boat . . .

That's one of the reasons why people get stopped. Officer: Do you know why I stopped you? Driver: You thought I had a box of donuts? :ROFLMAO:

    My boat is being a boat . . .

Yea, I wish . . . how much would that cost. All I know is that once I challenged them on the need for an escort, they deleted that application and I was able re-apply and get the permit online, no problem.

    Vintage Mercury Cooling Issue

Possibly . . . although it runs smooth, just not very fast. I am wondering if my IR temperature gun on the spark plugs would be a good indication if they are firing. Meanwhile, I have been cruising through CL looking for its replacement. o_O

    My boat is being a boat . . .

My launch day is tomorrow - Wednesday June 7th. 11:22 AM (exactly :ROFLMAO: ) I had a little trouble getting the wide load permit. It apparently a rookie admin/clerk was holding it up thinking I needed a police escort. So, I asked them why  , and now I have my permit as originally...

    Vintage Mercury Cooling Issue

Quick update . . . Engine cooling is fine on the little Merc, but it does not want to go above mid-throttle for some reason. The linkage, throttle, and ignition advance are going up all the way to WOT, but the engine happily goes about mid throttle (just based on the current sound vs. its...
