    Procraft 1900 bass boat restoration

Ease of epoxy? Not sure what that means. Poly resin can harden in minutes if you mix it correctly. Epoxy can take hours, especially in cold weather. That will slow down your rebuild. Amazon has gallons of poly resin for $40. Your boat was made with poly resin. Why is it you need epoxy?

    Teleflex Tachometer Wiring

What does the manufacturer say? Don't they sell a harness? Tachs need ign power, ground signal and have a light for night boating. Actually, you can check the pins to the light bulb. That will tell you night light and ground. Then it is 50/50 on the other two pins. Don't overlook those...

    Procraft 1900 bass boat restoration

Epoxy is overkill. Polyester resin is fine. Use 1-1/2 oz mat to fill voids. Use 10oz cloth for high strength repairs. I have never pulled the cap off of a boat, however, I expect the lifting cradle will need to be tailored to the strength of the cap. My speedboat has a very thin (weak)...

boat wanting to go left when cruising on water

I believe some Bayliners with V-P outdrives have left handed props. You would adjust them the opposite way from MerCruisers, which have right handed props. Also trim position of the outdrive or outboard makes a difference. Have you tried trimming up?

    Gelcoating keel

Yes, the gelcoat will protect that area. A couple of coats of poly resin would protect it as well. You might add some colorant to either to help hide the damage.

    Need ignition switch help

I/Os usually need ign power to feed the CDI unit or coil. That serves as ign accessory on that ign switch, as they do not have a dedicated accessory wire.

    Lost Keys for Older Boat

If you do decide to change the ign keyswitch, and it is inside a MerControl, you will want to get an OEM or clone of the OEM switch, so it will fit inside the control. Not all will.

Need carb kit for 115 crossflow spl 1997 Johnson

They should be avail from OEM, Sierra and likely GLM. Look up OEM part number on the crowleymarine site and then do a search on it.

1985 Mercury 85hp (4 cyl) runs great for 20 minutes then boggs down

That temp switch is likely an overheat switch. They usually ground when the motor overheats. This ground completes a circuit that sounds a buzzer. You wire the ign accessory wire (battery positive, usually purple) to one side of the buzzer and the other side of the buzzer is connected to the...

1985 Mercury 85hp (4 cyl) runs great for 20 minutes then boggs down

That motor likely doesn't have a thermostat. Most (not all) inline engines from that era don't have one. They rely on the waterpump to cool more than the motor requires. They therefore run dead cold at idle and warmer at cruise. If the prop pitch is too high or some other extra load is put...

    Lost Keys for Older Boat

Yes, there are only about 10 Mercury OB keys. If you open the control, the key code is usually written on the ign keyswitch. Alternatively, you can take the rig to the Mercury Dealer, and he will try each key until he finds a match.

    New 150 HP Sea Pro

OK, so motor is IL4, 3.0L, 4 cycle and 455 pounds. So 2 less cylinders than my 150HP 2.0L 2 cycle V6, and about 100 pounds heavier. Looks to be Mercury's answer to the real popular Yamaha IL4 150HP outboard. Those seem to be taking over, at least around here. The marketing is comical. That...

1974 850 mercury tilt cylinder leaking,

Mercury used to sell a seal kit for the trim cylinders. The piston seal was teflon and required a special tool to install the piston and new seal into the cylinder. The rest of the seals were orings. If she is leaking around the trim rod, pull the end cap, pull the piston and cylinder out as...

    1994 Ranger boat w/ 150 xri mercury.

If it is inside the control, you need an exact replacement, so it will fit. Look on crowleymarine for the control that you have, by year, and get the ign switch part number. If on the dashboard, most any marine magneto-type switch will work.

Mercury sportjet 175 xr2 rectifier problem

What year motor? Different years had different charging systems. Some had rectifiers, some had voltage regulators, some had both. Rectifiers blow when the battery and ground are not making a good connection with the rectifier.

Can anyone help me identify the brand of this hull?

Looks like it says Elgin. The emblem looks like the Johnson one, and since Elgin is related to that..... Certainly from the 60's or early 70's.

    1996 Ocean Runner 150 trim

PTT units take Dextron auto trans fluid. Of course the OEM sells PTT fluid for it as well. Make sure the trim pivots are greased. Your motor will have two zerc fittings. You need to help the motor trim by hand, Using both your hands and PTT motor)until it is all the way up. Now use the...

    What next? 90 hp Mariner

Once the carbs clog, they do not unclog themselves. The carb clog can also cause the motor to run lean and hot, hence the compression test recommendation.

High RPM surge driving me nuts!!!

Over oiling by the OMS pump is usually caused by an air leak on the gasoline side. I would check your fuel line for air leaks. Check the main strainer and make sure the seals and oring are good. Those motors were not designed for an electric fuel pump. You may be force-feeding the carbs or...

    What next? 90 hp Mariner

Your post said it run and then died and wouldn't restart. That is consistent with carbs becoming clogged, as junk is sucked into the carbs. Did I read it wrong?
