    Gauge making me crazy

There is an overheat alarm and it will use the obnoxious buzzer. See if you can find the 210˚ F somewhere around the engine. Make note of the temperatures at different spots. Where you are holding the IR gun in the picture is right where cold water comes in from the outdrive, so you are not...

Digital Throttle/Shift (DTS) Shift Adjustment ???

Quick Update . . . It has been difficult to find some time to do some additional tests on the Axius Joystick the shifting. I did find some time today . . . I 'undressed' the engines so I could see the shift actuators in action. Both engines/actuators appear to have identical 'throws' of the...

    1980 Gamefisher

I found a parts list online that indicates water cooled. Maybe the OP can verify. I'd actually like to find an air-cooled 7.5 myself

    1980 Gamefisher

Small outboards seem to have a mind of their own. Most problems are fuel delivery (carburetor) and cooling (impeller). I usually run a high concentration of curb/injector cleaner in the first tank after a layup (winter) to make sure the carb is not getting gummed up. Mercury Powertune (spray)...

Towing a boat with 9ft beam...

Congrats on the new boat. (y) For future considerations, I would not be overly concerned about towing a wider boat, if you decide to go bigger in the future. It depends on how often you tow and what you are comfortable with. If you tow a lot, you can always get an annual permit. If you...

    Quit My Job . . .

Well, I got a job . . . IT Consulting for one of the partner organizations where I used to work. Probably will be only 1 day/week, so I'll have plenty of time to work on my home and boat project lists :D

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II Dies at 96

Yes, she has really seen it all. Charles is 'in charge' now.

    Struggling with Gauge Temp

Here is a typical exhaust stack, showing manifold, gaskets, (optional spacer block), and riser (aka elbow). The typical flow of water is noted by the arrows.

    Struggling with Gauge Temp

As for the exhaust manifolds, when the time comes. Take off the lower hose to let them drain. Then remove the bolts that hold the riser onto the manifold and pull the riser off. You will need new gaskets to re-assemble, so get those ahead of time.

    Struggling with Gauge Temp

You need to backflush the intake line (hose) not the engine block. You may end up replacing the impeller, so don't rule that out. The hose that is getting hot is the recirculating hose (orange). It sounds like not enough cool water is getting into the engine, because not enough hot water can...

Trim not work above 3000rpm (377Mag MPI DTS Axius)

Yes, I doubled up on the accessory battery and the warnings went away. (actually connected the bank of 4 inverter batteries to the 1 accessory battery). It seems that part of the overall system is fed from the 'house' battery and not the starboard engine battery. I was also able to resolve...

    Upgrading Gen 5 VP V8-300 (300HP) to a V8-350 (350 HP)

Surprising that Regal puts the 300 (or even the 350) HP engine in that boat. Definitely could use 400+ HP. Many 28 footers have twins for good reason.

Trim not work above 3000rpm (377Mag MPI DTS Axius)

Not sure if my boat has the active trim, unless it is part of the Axius 'Eco' system (which I have yet to ticker with). I have a manual for the Axius (Gen 2) that came with the boat.

    Upgrading Gen 5 VP V8-300 (300HP) to a V8-350 (350 HP)

The PCM will have the engine serial number 'flashed' into it. You'd have to get a stand-alone PCM for the 350 HP. Not sure you could get that though . . . Does the Regal 28 have just a single engine? If so, I don't think 50 extra HP is going to be much of a solution.

HF 1.5w Solar Panel for trickle charge dual battery system?

Try it and report back. The 1.5 watt chargers certainly work, based on the consumer reviews. Probably not enough for dual batteries, and assumes you have good sunshine. Keep in mind that the self discharging of the battery happens continuously, so during the daylight hours, the solar panel...

Trim not work above 3000rpm (377Mag MPI DTS Axius)

You should certainly be able to trim down at any RPM, but not up past a certain point at cruising speeds. (trim limit) I have trimmed up on my boat at 3600 RPM . . . of course the boat slowed down, so I trimmed back down and the boat re-gained its speed. (I have the Merc 6.2 ECT SeaCore w/...

    Bravo 3 shifting

Welcome to iBoats . . . Bravo outdrives have a cone clutch and sometimes the clutch does not engage fully at low speeds due to 'glazed' clutch surfaces. Not saying this is the issue, but it is something to consider. Usually it happens with forward, since that is used the most. Tell us a bit...

No oil pressure on 97 Monterey with 5.7

1997 there would certainly be an alarm for low/no oil pressure, but maybe a switch as well. You are probably best to pull the engine, since the oil pump is down in the oil pan and not accessible otherwise.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Following . . . @muc, @alldodge , and @Lou C (and others) were helpful to me on some engine issues I had earlier this season - 2016 Twin Mercury 6.2 ECT SeaCore. (CAT, DTS, Axius, Joystick) I almost bought a boat with twin VP engines . . . "V8-350-CE-D" was the model number and there was...

HF 1.5w Solar Panel for trickle charge dual battery system?

The self-discharge rate of these batteries at full charge is about 25ma (right?) (1% of capacity per day at 'room' temperature).
